BoxingScene.com has been informed by David Itskowitch, COO for Golden Boy Promotions, that this Saturday's main event between Erik Morales and Marcos Maidana will have the vacant interim-WBA junior welterweight title at stake. The event headlines a Golden Boy Promotions pay-per-view at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Maidana isn't good enough to beat world champions like Kotelnik and Amir so he decides to fight a past prime career featherweight boxer to get the world title belt.

      Paper champion anyone?

absolutely ridiculous! he was interim champion....got beat by the full champion...how does he deserve to slot straight back in as interim again if he wins this? at best this is an eliminator for interim. fking orgs and their fking sanctioning fees!! he'll become amirs mandatory again and if he beats bradley and moves up...they'll just hand maidana the full belt.

Wazza, Maidana is Khan's best win so you should be praising him at all times, on one score card it was 6 rounds each but Khan won with the point deduction it was a close fight.

Maidana beat the piss out of Kotelnik and on my score card won 8 rounds to 4, maybe 7-5 if you are being kind to Kotelnik.

Maidana isn't the best boxer out there but he is one tough bastard and no one out there will enjoy being in a fight with him.

Khan has given him massive props since the fight for his toughness and BOXING skills, (khan was surprised how good he was) but all you ever do is have bad remarks for Maidana and it doesn't make any sense.

Maidana never agreed to this fight because of a belt.. This news was just released today. He was promised to headline an HBO PPV, and he was challenged to this fight by a faded legend. Why shouldn't he take it?

I know that Maidana is Amirs best win but that doesn't affect my opinion about him. Maidana has a big punch and a lot of determination. I give him that. But other than that, he hasn't impressed me til this day. He doesn't apply smart pressure and doesn't mix his punches up well. On top of that he is a very dirty fighters, who likes to hit constantly behind the head, hit after the bell and refuse to obey referee's commands at time.

Besides his limited skills and dirty tactics, I also think he is two-faced. He is not the 'I'd fight anybody anywhere type' that he makes out to be. He refused to fight Amir in the UK and demanded to wear 8 Oz gloves while the Nevada state commission says that 140 fighters have to wear 10 Oz gloves. He filed a complaint on fight night and had Amir's Reebok gloves removed.

This is the same Maidana that said that Amir is afraid of him. Maidana said that Amir isn't that good and the fight wouldn't be hard. Amir goes on and beats him decisively (I had it 116-110). And guess what Maidana says a couple of weeks later..."Khan is afraid of me he will never fight me again". Maidana had his chance and he failed. Just like he failed against Kotelnik (I had Kotelnik winning). Maidana talks about rematches, yet won't give Ortiz a rematch who has been begging for a Maidana rematch ever since the Campbell fight.

Conclusion: Maidana is a dirty, butthurt, two-faced, limited contender.

....Well, it obviously makes sense to wazaa, just like it makes sense to pacfans that Pac is a legitimate "8 division world champion" or whatever they ferverently claim him to be, or Floyd fans agree with Floyd that he is the G.O.A.T.....these fanboys man, ....look, some of us understand that ya'll have your favorite boxer, but for crying out loud people!....

A couple of days after the Morales-Maidana fight got signed, BoxingScene put articles up about the WBA elevating Amir to the Super WBA champion status and having Morales-Maidana for the WBA belt. This got confirmed by Morales, BoxRec and Amir on Twitter.

I really don't get the WBA title picture. So Amir Khan must be the WBA super-champion then. Haven't heard that he was though. Same thing with the WBC, they make more champions than I can keep track of. I know people have spoken out about alphabet title abuse. Need more.
