I never called Vargas, Silvestre or Ramirez bums. I was referring to the fact that he has not defended against anyone except one 10-5-3 fighter SINCE Vargas, which was in 2009. (Silvestre was not a title defense).

As far as "why accept the match then?", why did Jones agree to fight Lebedev? Why would Holyfield accept a fight with Haye if it were offered? Vargas accepted a title fight with Donaire. He's obviously got more balls than brains because he had no chance of beating Donaire. But he's a fighter and when offered a title shot, he takes it. Simple as that.
