I can understand him losing to Pavlik and Abraham, but he should have beaten Froch. That was ridiculous.

The second Pavlik fight he was on the way to winning, but just ran out of gas in the last few rounds.

The Pavlik Taylor fought was not drinking and that makes a big difference. Pavlik started drinking after the first Taylor win. Once many people reach their goal they celabrate.

And the punches Pavlik hit Taylor with totally wrecked his punch resistance and cordination. Hence the loss to Froch and Abraham.

Taylor, whilst possessed of speed, explosiveness, power and good reactions, was always a very fundamentally flawed fighter whose inability to pace himself (manifested as bad stamina) or listen to orders from his corner meant that sooner or later he was going to come a cropper. The signs were already being written on the wall after tougher than expected fights with Ouma and Spinks.

Pavlik was just the type of fighter to take his 0 away from him: a solid meat and potatoes guy who listened to his corner and followed gameplans. And whilst he never possessed the type of track and field athleticism that Taylor had he did have other physical advantages which Taylor didn't, namely great stamina and the sort of raw strength that enabled him to consistently punch hard throughout the fight.

People were hyping Pavlik's chances up before the fight so it wasn't like it was a totally unexpected victory. He'd been on an impressive run prior to that, beating Zertuche and Miranda (a very feared fighter at the time) and many were backing him to beat Taylor. The second fight was much closer, though given the brutal ending of the first fight you could see that Taylor was a little hesitant to mix things up with Pavlik. Once again Pavlik's fundamentally superior boxing and willingness to listen to his corner got him the win.

Against Abraham, Taylor was coming off a brutal and heartrending KO loss to Froch to fight an extremely hard to hit undefeated power punching machine in his home country. Aside from the obvious confidence issues Taylor must have been suffering, stylistically he simply couldn't land clean on Abraham, who caught the majority of punches on the gloves, getting the measure of Taylor's timing before demolishing him in the later rounds.

Abraham's being written off after his last two fights but the man is good, and has (had?) the unerring ability to read a fighter's rhythm and connect with perfectly timed power punches that invariably take guys heads off. It was simply a case of a marginally depleted fighter in Taylor fighting a very good, confident and hard hitting opponent in Abraham. Again, not exactly a massive shock, except to those who didn't know anything about Abraham beforehand.

Pavlik not a good technical boxer, my god. Good hand speed, hits like a fallen safe, high work rate, good foot work, gives great effective pressure and a great jab and 1-2, the overhand right is devastating. Too many people.hating on Pavlik, Martinez and Hopkins is his two losses, Former p4p king and current top 3 p4p. future king. Pavlik pressured and outboxed Taylor, ruined Taylor. The Froch Abraham fights do not have the same.outcome if Pavlik don't come first, especially Abraham. Pavlik is at Super Middle now, that weight class is on notice, Hardest hitter in that class

Taylor has said that he basically used training camps as weight loss camps. He was probably weight drained and didn't focus on skills or strategies in camp.

Pavlik wasn't unskilled. He he just fell apart at an early age due to alcoholism. He's still fairly young even now, just destroyed.

Abraham was pretty good at his lower weights but once he faced bigger/taller guys he took that walk them down in a circle then try to KO them late strategy to ridiculous extremes.
