Are you seriously claiming that Morales vs. Mosley at this point would be a pick 'em fight??????

It's easy to have that type of honor when you are worth 10s of millions of dollars, like the Klitschko's are, but some people need to make a living.

Maidana made close to a million dollars against Khan, so that fight alone made him practically a millionaire; and he would have made about half a million had he faced Alexander or any other top 10 Jr Welterweight next, as he should have done. He has no problem whatsoever making a living - get real. By most people's standards (and by the standards of 95% of professional boxers, the vast majority of whom get far less than $100k per fight) he's a very rich man. He certainly doesn't need to beat up old men in order to make a living.

I like Maidana, and..... he is pretty much fearless.

So, I have tried not to look at this situation from that particular point of view.

                " I fight who my promoter..... "

                " boxing is a business..... "

" we are all professionals..... "

" Morales demanded that fight..... "

                yada, yada, etc, etc.....

But, ***it, I agree with you guys, I just cannot get up for this fight, no matter what.

                What the *** Marcos ?

He's no less entitled to put this name on his record and get a payday on PPV than Khan was with Barrera.

You really think Maidana keeps all that money or that he's set for life?

I know this is a bull**** fight, but I begrudge Maidana nothing. Take it to those exploiting Erik's crazy heart and bribing him into the ring.

FWIW, all accounts I can find state Maidana's purse at around $550,000, which is just over half a million dollars.

But, hey, I suppose we can say that a million dollars minus 45% of a million dollars is still "practically" a million dollars.

Morales is far more shot than Barrera was then, and Maidana is a top 5 Jr Welterweight now, whereas Khan was an unproven prospect then, and Barrera was easily his biggest test up to that point - it was not a money fight for Khan, it was a big step up in class for him. Barrera was the favourite to beat Khan, FFS. That's a ridiculous comparison to make.

And Maidana is complicit and is therefore one of "those exploiting Erik's crazy heart and bribing him into the ring". He is as guilty as anyone else because he took the fight when he could have made very good money fighting a credible opponent instead. Your pretence that Maidana isn't complicit in this means you don't think he is intelligent enough or grown up enough to make his own decisions. That's crap and is actually very patronising to Maidana.

As for being set for life, if he retired now, he wouldn't be rich but he would be comfortably off for the rest of his life as long as he didn't throw his money away like many boxers do. And in any case, he has no need to retire now. He can make very good money without resorting to beating up old men.
