he didnt win his last fight clearly against Marquez...if you think Mayweather struggled with Cotto, you must think Pacquaio lost to Marquez then?

Neither of them should have the number 1 spot unless they either fight each other, or one of them makes the leap to fight Martinez.
So Pac would have to beat Bradley convincingly and then move on to Martinez. Similarly, Floyd will have to fight Martinez.
It may sound harsh but that's their fault for dragging the sport into the ground and not fighting each other.Comment

The only fear going on with either Floyd or Manny is that Manny is afraid what results random OST would reveal. That's why he's refused it for 4 years. That's why Manny constantly comes up with reasons not to fight.
Be it OST, USADA, cut off dates, cuts over his eye not healing, the split, etc.
Floyd has been consistent in his one demand:
Take the tests.
Floyd already called up Manny and offered him about 6x what he normally takes home. Manny isn't going to get that kind of payday ANYWHERE else. Manny takes home $7 million. Floyd just took home a guaranteed $35 million.
Who needs who? And who else would turn down $40 million unless they were afraid of that asss-beating?
Hell .. I'd wager that any boxer within 20lbs higher or lower would make 147 for that kind of money. Pacquiao just ain't that important.Comment

No it wasnt...Hopkins only made the p4p lists off of one win, that was beating a streaking Trinidad...Mayweather was a top ten pound for pounder since 1998 and kept on winning.After Roy Jones lost it was a toss up for most people who the best was between Hopkins and Mayweather.
Hopkins lost and with it lost his claim. Mayweather was in his prime then Hopkins was great but past prime so to me it wasnt even a discussion. A prime fighter is better than a past prime fighter.Comment

no, if that was the reason then pac should've been bumped down right after marquez 3 fight...floyd did'nt get bumped down when he did'nt look impressive vs hoya and balmdoir ...you said pac gothe # 1 spot by default but so did floyd...pac got it when floyd reteired and floyd got it when bhop lost....so both really did'nt become the p4p king bacuse of what they did but becuase of what the then current p4p failed to do which in bhop's case win and in floyd' case retirement...Comment

Mayweather was in the top 10 p4p before Hopkins was and was undefeated and had more of a claim to being number one pound for pound considering he was in his prime and undefeated.Mayweather didnt look impressive to some in those fights but there is no dispute that he won those fights like their is on Manny beating Marquez, thats the huge difference. Hopkins only claim to fame was beating Trinidad and raking up IBF title defenses whereas Mayweather already beat the same amount of world title holders(9) and won titles at 3 weights up to that time in far less fightsComment
