It would be good for boxing if Berto vs Ortiz went the distance...

It would allow for other match ups to be made at 147. Both Berto and Ortiz have world class power there is no doubt about that. I think boxing needs this fight to go the distance. I'm picking Ortiz to win this by an early KO, but if that doesn't happen I expect the scorecards to be impacted by the multiple KD's Ortiz scored on Berto. Besides that no matter the outcome both fighters are pretty talented and it would be good for boxing if this were to go the distance, because it will answer a lot of questions about both fighters. Personally I like Berto's style of fighting, but someone as acurate as Ortiz can figure him out. HBO is trying too hard to sell us Berto for some odd reason I don't get it? He's a decent boxer, but can't sell many tickets yet HBO insist we fall into the bandwagon. Point is if this figjt goes the distance we can have Berto vs Mosely or M. Jones, and Ortiz vs Cotto or Cintron? Wether they lose on a UD these fights I mentioned look like sellable fights.

I'd be pretty surprised if it didn't go the distance. Neither is exactly a risk taker, despite their ability to punch.

        you're trying to hard bro

first off you're contradicting yourself when it one sentence you state "both fighters are pretty talented" to sell this fight as even and that an Ortiz victory would be great then wonder aloud why Berto has been catered to by HBO with this "He's a decent boxer..."

        which is it?

and this fight going the distance only makes them more marketable IF they have a fight of the year type fight which we haven't seen from Ortiz since the Maidana fight and from Berto since the Collazo fight. Since then I think both have regressed or hid behind a series of soft touches to get to this point

for intents and purposes this SHOULD be explosive while it lasts the only problem is which versions of the two will we see

Ortiz is stressed out with the critics, just rewatched the press conference, man I'm excited.

and as it stands Vic is a tightly wound fighter already so going into this fight he might be wound so tight he may lose all his energy ala Oscar

I actually think this fight needs to end by stoppage as a career defining win for the winner

Both fighters have been way less than impressive in their last couple of fights. You could make a case for Berto but then again who has he faced?

The result of this fight has no significant consequences for boxing as a whole.
