'aftr Leonard retires boxing is dead'...
'after Tyson retires boxing is dead...'
'after DLH retires boxing is dead!!'

boxing will never die, ever. every time people try to think about it dying, someone else like Pacquiao pops up and makes huge waves in boxing. 3 years ago Pacquiao wasnt that big a star. good PPV attraction and everything, sure, but hes exploded these last few years.

certain mma fans pretend that because they feel threatened by boxing and wish it to die, and say it in hopes that it will happen. certain boxing fans do it to mma as well though...

You can tell Sherdog that GSP and Anderson won't be fighting forever either. Not to mention that Brock's hype already died down so he's not the "baddest man on the planet" like dana white was hyping him up to be.

Hell even Couture's days are coming to an end. Wandy isn't the Wandy of Pride, Chuck's retired and BJ Penn is just about done.. I'd really like to see what the UFC in general has to offer when these names fizzle.

As far as boxing goes, it will be fine. This was the same convo that people were having when Felix and Oscar weren't as competitive as they once were. The promotions will find the next big thing and work them into superstars.

There was a thread from like 5 years ago where somebody said boxing is going to be done soon that was bumped recently. Wasn't true then, isn't true now.

I think it will take HUGE hit in the US. US has very few stars coming up, and the ones that r aren't really exciting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the most exciting one is probably Berto and that's not the best news after Pacquiao's Era... Hopefully some guys like Gamboa/Lopez, Donaire, Martinez, and Khan can break through to the US market well enough to carry the sport. Otherwise, those MMA **** might end up being right.
