I say Calzaghe. He has the great, rare, ability to REALLY turn it up, when he feels he needs to, which Mayweather does not. And he fights better against better opposition, which Mayweather does not. And He's never STUNK out arenas to small crowds which mayweather used todo ALL the time, even people walking out hwhen he was actually boxing. Never happened to Calzaghe.

And Mayweather is a scurrilous, obscene ruffian, which Calzaghe is not.

As for Calzaghe's Hopkins fight, often mentioned as a "close" win for Calzaghe or a win for Hopkins, Calzaghe won easily though not comfortably. By the half way mark he was just making a fool of Hopkins, who was bringing out all his "tricks" Butting, lacing, low blows, ham acting fake low blows to get a rest and all the same crap. It didn't work.

Calzaghe made a fool of him.

I have to go with Mayweather overall, but Joe dominated a prime Kessler and beat a tough Hopkins and I think those two wins are better than anything Mayweather produced. But Mayweather has more notable names, where as Calzaghe has a couple really good wins, but nothing more than that. There's no doubt in my mind that if Joe was given and taken the opportunity in his career to fight the better fighters out there, he would have beaten them. I think there are a few fighters during Floyd's time that could have beaten or given Mayweather trouble, but we unfortunately didn't get to see that. There's something odd about it, but I honestly cannot see any fighter during Calzaghe's time beating him.

I get the impression people think Floyd is better on the basis of a supposedly better resume, even if not by much. But Floyd has always had home advantage, and he has tried put things in his favour.
I think Floyd finds fights hard on him physically, and that is why he doesnt fight that much. He gets tired dodging punches all night and dont like fighting, otherwise he would.

I will say JC is better, but i cant say that with any degree of certainty. Just before JC retired, Kessler was the man as was Lacy and JC did what was expected of him. What a great fighter is supposed to do. Sure JC didnt fight RJJ in RJJ prime, but Floyd hasnt ever fought anyone that good also, ducking COtto and Margarito who werent as good as RJJ.

Floyd did everything supposedly great so long ago in his prime. How would Floyd do against todays best fighters at 36 years of age? The guy wont let us know. He tires his opponents out emotionally before they even get in the ring with him. Floyds oppoents say to themselves, "wow i finally got Floyd in the ring, but i feel ive already gone 10 rounds with mike tyson trying to get him in the ring.
