According to Eric Gomez, head matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, Ryan Rhodes has raised his demands for a possible shot at the WBC junior middleweight champion, Saul "Canleo" Alvarez (36-0, 26KOs). The WBC recently appointed Rhodes (45-4, 31KOs) as the mandatory challenger. The fight is tentative for June 18 in Veracruz, Mexico. If the two sides are unable to reach a deal by the end of April, a purse bid will be ordered.

Before everyone cries that Rhodes is ducking think about the possibility that Golden Boy intentionally lowballed Rhodes with a bogus offer because they dont want this level of fight for Canelo yet. I would like to hear what Rhodes reponse to this is.

And once again Ryan gets screwed over... he's been the 1# contender since Oct, 2009 (and I believe he originally earned a world title shot in Sept, 2008 winning the WBC International title) so for 2.5 years he's been over looked, GBP probably lowballed Ryan knowning he's a craft veteran who's got the tools to really test Saul.

Here, Here.. The artical coming out ov Mexico makes bells ring for me.
I cant see Rhodes passing this chance up, hes been waiting yeaaaars! But then again, he's gonna want to get paid to fight over Mexico. They could offer him peanuts and say he wants more!
I think one fighter or promoter should post there contracts online (Maybe a pipe dream, but we can always hope) To start the ball rolling. maybe one day the negotiations will be less confidential.

Pretty sure they must be paying Rhodes £8.50 and a bag of cheetos.

He's never had a particularly high payday so I doubt he will turn down anything reasonable.
