    Calzaghe blasts Show, Lacy!

WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe has lashed out at the Gary Shaw, promoter of IBF champ Jeff Lacy. "I want the Lacy fight now more than ever both to prove to all my fans what they already know, that I'm the best, and to shut Shaw's mouth once and for all," Calzaghe wrote in his South Wales Argus column. "And as for me going to America for the contest, well the agreement is that Lacy should fight me over here so we'll see if he honours that agreement or if he ducks out. I'm the man in the super-middleweight division and Lacy needs me more than I need him and I'm certainly not going jump just because he clicks his fingers. I know and he knows I will beat him badly when the fight does go ahead and after what has happened in the past five days I can't wait to prove that."

What a disgrace this guy is. If Lacy fights Kessler the winner of that fight is the best fighter in the division.

I really don't know how Joe can say Lacy needs him more than Joe needs Lacy. Joe needs a career defining fight, and bloody soon.

Well... I do think people are a little hard on Calzaghe, YES he desperatly needs a career defining fight, and has needed one for a long time! But a lot of big names have infact refused to fight him.

          i.e. RJJ, Hopkins, and Ottke.

That's gettin' played out, big time. Hopkins and Roy never needed Joe and Joe was content to fight in Britain. It's his problem if he wants to stay there, so don't bull****.

The only one on that list who should have fought Joe was Ottke, and that's the only one that Joe woulda beat. Ottke was more protected than Joe was.

And yes, I agree, Joe needs Lacy a lot more than Lacy needs him. Joe should just be content at this point to fight Lacy anywhere.

Joe/Warren offered Hopkins £3,000,000 to fight in Las vegas, Hopkins said "yes", then two weeks later Hopkins came back to them and demanded £6,000,000.

Joe/Warren offered RJJ similar figures to fight Jones in Las Vegas at 175lbs... RJJ asked for $10 million, so the fight could not be made.

I agree that Joe needs the Lacy fight, but it should be in the UK in February as agreed by the promoters (should Joe be injured in the Ashira bout).

Personally, with all the bad mouthing going on now between the 2 parties, I can't see this fight happening.

They'll have the fight in England, if it goes off (big if). Shaw's just talking **** now because he's pissed off, as he should be. People shouldn't take what he's saying so seriously. Ask yourself: do you always say what you mean when you're mad?

Believe everything you're told huh? Makes sense...

Yeah, true. Shaw just seemed angry in the moment and I don't think he'll demand the fight to be in the U.S. Shaw has been a good promoter.
