Former WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev has responded to some of the comments that were recently made by WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, following Saturday's first round stoppage of Cuban Odlanier Solis. Klitschko once again named Valuev as a possible future opponent. He said "I am ready to face Valuev, I can't see him walking away from the millions [of dollars] that were proposed to him."

Valuev has always played his giant freak role. Watching his photo sessions or the way they have marketed some of hs fights is enough evidence. He may not like the fact that it is now sticking to him, but he is responsible for the most part.

Mr. Valuev is quite intelligent and well educated. But his memory seems to be somewhat selective. The offers were public and you only need to go back in the news here on Boxingscene to find the offers. The first was 2,5 million dollars. Valuev made a counter demand of 4 million. Later a new offer of 1,5 million dollars was on the table. At that time Don King accepted the original 2,5 millions dollars offer but it was past that point.
