I first met in January of 1988 when I was brought to Montreal to fight his boxer, Otis Garnt, as part of an International boxing show. I defeated Otis on a (close) decision and later in the year when we first turned pro Russ brought him and his brother Howard down to CT to fight on a couple shows with me. After a few years I started going to Montreal on a regular basis to spar with Otis for many of his fights and then in 1997 I went with them to London for three weeks when Otis won the WBO title. Russ used to bring Hercules Kyvelos to my gym in Hartford, too, to train for fights etc. We have all kept in touch all these years and whenever I go to Montreal I hang out with Russ, Otis etc. I had Russ down to CT last year for an amateur show and he has had me up for amateur events, too. I work with Russ sometimes in corners,too. I had him down to the states to work as a cutman for me in fights involving Chad Dawson,Ray Olivera and Clay-Bey. We wil continue to work together in many aspects for years to come, I am sure.
