Toughguy? Lol. I didn't threaten you. Why do that? I defended logic by the way. I also never denied that Vitali got TKO'd.Did you ruffle my feathers? And are they really purple..."partner"? Another internet toughguy....
I'm well aware the Klitschkos are from Ukraine. That leaves only one reason why you're so rabid in Vitali's defense. As for my being a "fanboy," I'm not a fan of Solis; it would be clear to anyone who's read my posts.
My point is that Solis was knocked down and was badly hurt and if that caused a knee injury, so be it.
Vitali was merely cut in a fight he was winning.
Anyways, I called you a homer, ya know, a guy who roots for a guy or team from there they are from or lived no matter what logic is involved. That's you.
Personally, I don't give a crap if you are or you aren't but it appears that you are so I called you out on it so everyone would easily see i too.
We can do this all day but you just look more foolish saying anything other than the truth, which you know is that Solis was badly hurt from a right hybrid hook that barely connected flush.
It's gotta be a tough pill to swallow as it was for me when Danny Green knocked out Roy Jones.
The difference is though, that Solis is prime and Roy hasn't been for about 7 years.
Ouch.Comment

Great post, 100% correct. No no sugar coating it at all. The problem is that only about half of the people who read it will even understand it because they already have their minds made up because of the exact reason that I bolded above. Also, it's because they are civilized and probably because they are white as well.Oh no I am busted!! What can I say you figured me out. You are right but also wrong at the same time. I will admit that I am a fan of the heavyweight division and have been since I was a kid watching Ali do his thing. But I have also been a fan of other divisions and fighters as well.
I was a huge fan of Sugar Ray, since he is a home boy. But I lost interest in him when he kept coming out of retirement and fighting for belts in divisions where he had not fought. And I was happy and sad at the same time as I sat ring side and watched Terry Norris put a whooping on him at MSG. And my favorite fighter of all time was the Marvelous One and I still don't believe Ray beat him. And I still pay attention to the lighter weights but not like I did when Whitaker and Camacho, Mancini and Haugen were fighting for free on TV or on HBO etc. And the real reason I lost so much interest can be explained in three words, pay per view.
So, yes I do pay more attention to the heavyweights simply because I usually do not have to pay for anything extra. Fact is I have never paid to watch the Klit bros fight and the last fight I actually paid for was the Cotto-Margacheato fight back in 2008. Simply put I lost interest because of economic reasons and also because there are division ever three or four pounds and you have fighters such as the Pacman winning belts in how many weight divisions yet he has only 14 title fights on his resume. But I have nothing against the Pacman I just have no interest in his career.
I also don't understand how you question how big a fan I am and then you put so much stock into 180 seconds of a fight. A first round which by all accounts is a feeling out round and you talk as if Solis dominated the round. To be fair I just watched the fight twice on You Tube, it only took six minutes. And he may have hit Vitali with four clean shots. I say maybe because it is sometimes hard to tell with Vitali because of how he leans back. Vitali was not hurt nor did he back up or even change his facial expression. And I will also say that no I don't think the punch KOed Solis. But I will say I have no doubt that the punch put him on ***** street. I also believe Solis did what ever he did to his leg when his right leg almost stuck straight out to his side when he went down. And as my Grand ma use to say, "the proof is in the pudding."
Because before the fight started I witnessed Solis stretching by leaning way back and putting all of his weight on his legs and then bouncing on his legs, much like those hunters in Africa, with out any signs of pain or discomfort. So either he is a great actor or the pain pills were pretty potent or he was hurt when he fell and not during training.
And if you are as big a fan as you would want me to believe you would claim, as I did all along, that Solis had no business fighting for the title. Simply because he did not earn the right. And I for one was disappointed with the fight from the start. Because I don't give two craps about what Solis did as an amateur because I know enough about boxing and have been watching it long enough to realize that the difference between pro and amateur boxing is pretty drastic. Especially as compared to twenty or thirty years ago.
I have digressed a bit but I will say that yes I am a big fan of the Klit bros, and this is why. They come to fight in shape they seem to stay in shape when not fighting. They respect the history of the sport and for the better part of the last decade they have, for the most part, fought world class competition. When I say world class only Sosnoski, Biggs and Rahman were not rated in the Rings top ten when they fought. And if the bros weren't around I think we would be seeing the Thompsons, Chambers and the Arreolas of the division trading alphabet belts. And many fans would still be complaining about how bad things are in the division.
In closing I believe the two biggest problems the Klit brothers have is that one they are related and two they are not American. I truly believe if they were white boys from Brooklyn or Nebraska we would not even be having these discussions.Comment

It's fully explained in my other posts, you're not worth writing it again.
But since you wrote me, I'll ask you a question, what are the reasons you don't like the Klitschko's on a personal level? Because it's clear you don't. You have a right to not like their styles. What have they possibly ever done to deserve that other than possibly get Corrie Sanders his highest payday for a world class beating?Comment

He never got hit on the jaw.The hit was a graze off of Solis glove (he had it guarding his temples) and it reflected on the upper left of his forehead...that isn't even an equilibrium shot.Apparently even Vitali knew it wasn't a hard enough shot to hurt Solis as he blamed him for "throwing the fight". In fact, there is reason that even Vitali knew it wasn't a hard enough punch-watch him throw it,he never put any weight into it,nor pivoted-there was next to nothing on it.
Ironically after he believed Solis threw the fight,he tried saying it was his HARD punch, and how much of a good puncher he is.....ask yourself when the last time he stopped anyone in the first round...that was forever ago! They changed their tune and tried to gloat about his power AFTER Vitali accused Solis...in other words, they decided to take credit for something that they really had no control or part of.Hell, they may as well have said Solis KO'd himself-lolComment

Ask Eddie Chambers if a shot like that can cause momentary paralysis or not.Comment

You don't have to "threaten" anyone to be an "internet toughguy." Using a disrespectful tone with someone you don't know, and is at a very safe distance, is enough. I seriously doubt you'd walk into a bar, join a conversation and take a nasty tone with a stranger, especially one that looks threatening.Toughguy? Lol. I didn't threaten you. Why do that? I defended logic by the way. I also never denied that Vitali got TKO'd.

Ouch.
As for rooting for someone from my homeland, place I hail from, etc. What's so unusual about that? Accusing me of that is laughable. Practically every sports fan in the world does it. If you mean that it's clouding my judgement; I don't think so. I've made it very clear, in this thread, and in many others, what I think of Solis and the Klitschko brothers. To sum it up: I think far more of Vitali and Wlad than I do of Odlanier.
We've been debating the Klitschko "KO" of Solis. I think there's merit in both sides of the argument. You choose to believe that Vitali scrambled Solis's brains. I happen to believe the punch caused Odlanier to crouch and injure his leg, causing him to fall. I don't dispute that Vitali deserved to win. But the finish undoubtedly left something to be desired. The same as when Lewis "TKO'd" Klitschko. You think that's foolish? Quite frankly, you're coming off as more foolish, totally ignoring a logical but opposing viewpoint.Comment

that would be too long to write, and that is something I have done in the past
to sum it up, it's all about what they do in the ring, how they have handled their careers, AND NOT about their lives outside the ring or their race or nationality
outside the ring, they are true gentlemen, inside, well, another storyComment

another very long and nostalgic post, I hope you feel better nowWhat can I say typing is good for my arthritic hands. And you are making statements that I actually never said anything about. Simply because I never stated that I did not watch the lighter divisions. I even watched the Solomon-Hopkins fight on ESPN Friday night. Solomon has no power but he does look like a good prospect. Now back to what I was saying. I said I lost interest in them, and yes I do not watch many pay per view fights. Do you know the difference?
And just so you understand I did not lose interest a few years ago it was a long time ago. And Pay Per View was around long before the internet. And when I was younger I followed just about every division except for the really light fighters because those fights were rarely shown in the US. I also have about twelve boxes of all kinds of boxing mags dating back to about 1980 down in my basement. I also have six Ring Record Books sitting on the shelve to the left of me and about 20,000 fights on VHS tapes down the basement.
Back in the day I also spent half my weekends in Atlantic City. Watching everything from Duran fighting and Mark Breland winning his title to Cooney getting iced by Spinks to ESPN and USA club fights and enjoyed ever bit of it. And I am not saying this to prove to anyone how big a fan I am because in reality I am not nearly as big a fan as I once was. I am only saying it because you are making statements and assuming things when you know nothing about who or what I am. And it was actually the opposite because it was you who questioned if I was a real boxing fan when all I said was maybe you should try watching another sport. But you do have a way of twisting facts.
And as far as the Solis fight is concerned yes he did well and yes it was a close round. My only problem is that you make it sound like he dominated the round when in reality he only landed two or three punches. And if you want to hang your hat on 180 seconds out of a possible 12 round fight be my guest. And if you do don't talk to me about being irrational when clearly you are guilty of being very irrational.
I would also bet good money that you have watched the first round of Vitali's fight against Sanders thousands of times. Wow, this is just a thought, if you watch the first round of that fight 12 times in a row Vitali might lose, and all your dreams will come true. And by the way I liked Sanders.
I also may be off base but the only thing that I can figure is that you are so desperate to see the Klit bros lose, that you will grab onto anything going against them. Even if it was only a few shots landed within a round that the dude eventually got knocked out in.
I know I can be long winded and I apologize. But there are a couple of more items I want to talk about. You seem to focus a lot on Sosnoski. And I will agree he may not have been the best choice. But in my humble opinion here is the difference between Sosnoski and Solis. On one side you have Albert, a pro for twelve years and he was the European champ. He also had close to fifty fights and he came to the fight in shape and poured his heart out and took a beating. I really don't feel as if I need to continue but I will. On the other hand Solis has weighed 270 pounds for his fights and I am sorry but I don't care how gifted he is I have no respect for a fighter who obviously has no respect for the sport, and you can also lump that fat slob Arreola in there with him. And that is why I have much respect for the Klit bros. Because even at 39 Vitali is able to fight at a world class level.
In closing you like to play that "what if" game. And I can relate because I have been playing it since Len Bias died way back in 1986. And this goes back to Solis and his fatness. What if Solis took his career seriously and weighed in about 230 for each of his fights? What if he did not have to lose 20 or 30 pounds before the Vitali fight? Who knows if he had weighed 230 maybe he would not have broken his knee when he fell on it and we would have a new WBC Champ. But I truly think it is pretty simple. Because I believe there is a whole lot more to being a champion than just skill speed and power. And simply put it was not in the cards for him because Solis does not have what it takes.
now, please, stop that, your words are there, highlighted in one of my previous posts, you said you lost interest in lighter divisions, and you are now mostly interested in the HW division (which doesn't mean you never watch lighter divisions)
The only thing I've assumed about you is that you only cared about the Klits, and by your own admission, I was more right than wrong
I should watch another sport because I want to see the Klits lose ?
I have watched Sanders-Wlad maybe 15 times (only 2 rounds), but no, I haven't watched Sanders-Vitali first round a thousand times, I've watched the whole fight twice and that's it
it was a disappointing performance by Corrie who forgot his gameplan the second he stunned Vitali in the first round
I won't change my mind : despite his weight issues, Solis was a much more worthy opponent than that stiff Sosnowski who never beat anybody and was beat himself by Zuri Lawrence not so long ago
Vitali loves to cherrypick bums, unlike Wlad who is fighting the better opposition
Briggs, Johnson and Sosnowski : all optional defenses, and guess what, all bumsComment
