why does martinez want to fight cotto?

I've never said Pac should fight Martinez.
Personally I have always thought that Pac could clean house at 140, while Mayweather might be able to fight at 154.
But all we do know is that when both fighters stepped in the ring at jmw, both weighed in at about 147 pounds on fight night.Comment

Bro, stop it already. You know the reason perfectly well, everyone does. Sergio is getting older and he wants to secure his financial future, so he HAS to pick one of the big names near his weight class, irregardless of the real merit of the fight.
Stop making a big deal out of it. If they fight, so what? Cotto gets to challenge himself, AGAIN, and Sergio gets to bank. He already made his goal (become MW champion of the world). The rest of the road is icing on the cake, if he can secure his future, more power to him.Comment

Sergio said it himself. Pac fought no hopers. and u defending him? why not pick the guys above him not below his division? and i bet u once he beat some of the guys in super middleweight he would get recognize and earn money for his retirement. im pretty sure Cotto will fight him in 154 lbs but not in 160 lbs. Cotto is too small for MW.Bro, stop it already. You know the reason perfectly well, everyone does. so cotto is a no-hoper who will give martinez a pay day. that still doesn't make cotto not a no-hoper.
maybe martinez should stop making a big deal about pac fighting no-hopers if he wants to fight those no-hopers himself.Stop making a big deal out of it. If they fight, so what? it's very hypocriticalComment

No he wouldn't. He will never make close to the Big Three (May, Pac, Cotto), so he HAS to fight whichever is most viable RIGHT NOW to get some decent money. It is what it is.Sergio said it himself. I would have no problem if he faced Cotto because he is a former 154 lb champion facing a current 154 lb champion. Mismatch? Sure, but no one told Cotto to swim in those waters did they?Comment
