Former WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko spoke to *********.com yesterday from his training camp in the Poconos. "This is the fight where I will regain my stature," promised Wladimir. "Samuel Peter is a young and stong fighter. A very exciting fighter. I am excited to be fighting him. When we found out we were fighting him I was very happy." Regarding the perception that he has a suspect chin, Wladimir stated, "They're basing that on just two fights, the fight with Corey Sanders and Lamon Brewster. It was never a problem before up until those two fights." He also said he plans to continue training in the Poconos. "The Poconos is a perfect place for relaxation and the best place to get into the proper frame of mind for a big fight."

Klitschko's trainer, Emanuel Steward said Wladimir has sparred about 120 rounds with fighters who are 6'3 or 6'4 between 230 and 240. "Wladimir has fought better opposition than Samuel Peter," commented Steward. "I remember vividly how he knocked out Charles Shufford with a short right hook, someone who Samuel Peter had trouble with. For someone with very long arms, his power is on the top of the punch, not on the end and he fights particularly well on the inside. It's not going to go the distance....the time is going to come that it's just going to be Wladimir and Vitali as the two best heavyweights." (Photo: Ed Mulholland)
