I disagree while it might not take as long it is still the same and no money was in them at that point.not these cubans. For any normal 0-0 fighter, sure, but for Olympic gold medalists with a lot of press around them, I'm sure there were plenty of guys willing to snag them up quick. I mean it's not like these guys are 18-20 years old, their all grown men and could (and have been) moved rather quickly.
If you had to sign all of them now it would cost a pretty penny because they are established back then they were risky because who knows which guys will translate into the pros and who will not.
It is best to let it shake out and get them down the road, saves money and effort then you end up with them anyways.Comment

Say a company signs 10 guys how many are going to make it in any way 3 or 4 tops? All those guys still suck up resources until you figure that out then you move on with the worthwhile guys hoping you can get a deal but if you go that route you do risk another group swooping in.
If you just wait you make killer offer to the 3 or 4 guys because you spend 0 on developing 10 guys and then you have 3 or 4 guys you would have anyways without all the effort and they are ready to shine (and make bread).Comment

You have to have some prospects to fill out cards and whatnot because it is not economical to have a card full of high priced talent.
There is no reason to cut your own throat over prospects though so why get into a bidding war over the Cubans. Just scoop them up later.
Plus keep in mind US companies can't easily deal with Cubans, Oner was able to get there first because Germany has no such rules regarding Cuba. If you are broke in need of help who gets there first with cash on hand is a big deal, then once you get one you better bet others will come calling.Comment

what rules? Cuban steps foot on US land and they are automatically citizens. You have to have some prospects to fill out cards and whatnot because it is not economical to have a card full of high priced talent.

I understand about Oner getting there first, I'm just disagreeing with you that other people wouldn't have wanted them.
Any Olympic gold medalist is automatically a hot commodity in boxing, and they are marketable. Plus the whole intrigue and mystery surrounding Cuban fighters only adds to that.Comment

I agree you can't get a better prospect with 0 professional fights than a Olympic gold medalist.what rules? Cuban steps foot on US land and they are automatically citizens.
