Because HBO already did like 2 fights in Mexico doing a live coverage. And anyway, it is good for Martinez since he is aiming for more fans. What better way to get people's attention by beating one of their guys in their own territory. I see Sergio winning this fight by decision. It will be a tough fight not like that DZ guy and actual challenge not since Williams.

because in the USA sergio has an a non sold out venue of 3,000 people watching him fight. In mexico vs angulo they'd do 20k in almost any part of mexico and tv ratings would be big.

It certainly is a better fight than JCC jr or whoever Sergio may fight in the states though.
Beleive me they will draw a big crowd, just like Valero draw big crowds in Mexico, they just need that Televisa hype the fight, the reality is that boxing cards are getting better ratings that soccer matches of their own league.

And if the fight lands on TV Azteca then Azteca will hype the fight and people will assit to watch ARGENTINA VS MEXICO, the revenge of the World Cup Soccer Match.

It's just so easy since 2006 to get big crowds for boxing in Mexico.

It doesn't matter Televisa or TV Azteca will make sure this "EVENT" will be a success.

Also the Williams fights of Sergio, they were shown on Televisa.

Give Angulo a tune up in May, and I'm all for this fight. But I thought HBO dismissed Angulo?

Also Boxing in Mexico is like the UFC in the States, the people just hear a "Boxing Event" and they will come, it doesn't matter who fights.

So, what you are saying, he is supposed to wait until Chavez vs. Zbik fight and see if the winner will fight him next before getting a different opponent? If Chavez Jr wins, there is no way Arum will put Chavez in with Martinez this early, you can bet your life on that. And my next question is, would Martinez vs. Pirog sell any better than Dzinziruk did? That fight would be the same, doing good but not great numbers....

However, fighting Angulo in Mexico, now that will sell tickets. And after that, he can see who won the Chavez vs. Zbik fight and **** the drum for the winner. And you better hope it's Zbik or he will not get that fight for the WBC title. Suliaman will milk the Chavez name to get paid more sanctioning money (just like they plan to do with Canelo)...

Well Angulo is a bigger name and bigger money than any other middleweight name, Pirog who? and he does want the Chavez - zbik winner but if you pay attention their fight is not until June 4th and he needs a fight while he waits, a July fight will put his next around November without having to sit around
