    Is Solis still unbeaten......

Considering Klit fans claim that Vitaly's two losses don't count (especially the Byrd fight, ironically)....can Solis claim this fight doesn't count as he was injured, as opposed to actually losing the fight

No he can't because he got Tko'ed in the first rd..was not up on the scorecards like Vitali was.... he was knocked down from a punch & knocked out from an injury..so yes he did lose on injury but at the same time getting his ass beat. I'd like to see the punch stats for all the morons claiming he won the first rd right before tragedy struck. I only watched it once but defintely saw Vitali throw more punches..land more punches & was the aggressor. Solis was hanging in there & was doing well..that rd could've gone either way B4 the knockout. Solis..offense to defense ratio vs Vitali was very good & one of the best ever vs him for about 2 and a half minutes..he failed to defend himself.was taking risks coming in & couldn't protect his head in time as Vitali will hit you back no matter what when you try to hit him.

It was Vitali's punch to the temple that took away the feeling in his legs momentarily, and so he fell in an awkward way and injured his ankle.

Looks like he might have injured his knee before vitali even landed the punch.

Was Solis winning the fight before it was stopped? No. It was a 10-8 round for Vitali.

The best man usually wins. Byrd was the best man when Vitali swung 370 times at the air. But last night Vitali was the man.

Solis got his injury because he's a fat bastard. He tried to move as he did as an amateur, but that is a recipe for disaster at 246 lbs. At his size you cant charge and make sudden stops without endangering your ligaments. He got what he deserved.

solis was winning the fight until an unfortunate knee injury happened. watching the replays you can see his knee locked before the punch even landed. now we can keep saying solis is really undefeated and vitali is ducking him!

its been quite a while since i watched the byrd fight, but i am pretty sure i remember vitali clearly winning the fight and stopping due to an injury that really had nothing to do with byrd. i don't think that makes byrd the best man.

however this fight had not even gone on long enough to really establish anyone clearly winning. although i certainly think vitali would have gone on to beat solis - it is evident that solis lost because of a freak knee injury, not vitali. so vitali did nothing to prove that he was the best man, and he wasn't given a chance to. i don't think solis got to prove or disprove himself. to give vitali a ton of credit for this win is to expose yourself as a bona-fide 100% undeniable nuthugger IMO. i think we all expected vitali to win, but just because he got the win like we expected doesn't mean he did it in a way which was significant of anything.

edit: btw, to respond to op's original question - i don't think its a legit win for vitali, but i do think its a legit loss for solis in the fact that at the professional level he should be in tune with his body enough to not move around like a fool and get a freak knee injury out of nowhere.

I agree and disagree. From what I saw, Klitschko controlled the fight completely with his LH, and Solis few "rushes", mostly failed to reach Klitschko, who clearly punched and landed far more than Solis, actually pursuing him around the ring, and knocked him down with a legit punch., which took his legs away causing him to stumble back and fall.

The suspected injury suffered by Solis is exactly the same as what happened to Klitschko in training just before the Rahman fight, causing him to retire for 4 years. It is often a career ending injury.
