Floyd Mayweather vs mma fighters...Does he have the boxing style???

I am wondering, does mayweather have the boxing to beat mma fighters from various disciplines???

I know james toney has a crappy style for mma because he is flat footed and stays in the pocket which makes him vunerable but mayweather likes to move around and do all sort of things and it got me curious...How would he and his style do if he fought mma, assuming he cross trained enough to defend other areas such as leg kicks and cage style grappling????

If they fought an mma fight no way. They would just rush him and take him to the ground for a submission right off the bat.

for a stand up style, from my studies and experience, the old bare knuckle style stance is probably the most effective in against mma or shoot ins.

with the lead hand out and the elbow about the waist, shooting in is met with a quick shot right in the face, it's not fool proof, some guys take two to get one, but it's an obstacle with a fist right in your face if you're thinking about shooting in.

i don't know why mma fighters hold their guard up like boxers do, boxing gloves allow a fighter to turtle up and have some protection, from elbows to gloves with padding, makes for a viable defense.

but with no gloves or those small mma gloves, punches can come right in through the guard and sides.

the old bare knuckle stance, which back in the day of bare knuckle fighting it was called "Fencing with fists" and that lead hand was out to deflect punches because taking any punches back in the day was losing, because covering up and letting a guy hit you 1) could end the fight easily and 2) he could smash your hands and arms, breaking your hand and or hands and break down the muscle in your arms making it harder for you to fight and defend yourself.

also the bare knuckle stance allows you to keep your chin tucked at all times so it would be viable against head kicks too, provided you're aware...

but i think that, that element in mma would serve those guys better than boxing defense in a mma fight.

also, a boxing stance with the elbows up, hands by the ears and face, ALLOWS FOR ANOTHER FIGHTER TO SHOOT IN, again, bare knuckle stance keeps a fist right in the opponents face if he were to consider shooting in........

            long winded i know..............

But I am wondering about the bare knuckle stance your describing... Is it similare to ricardo lopez and his stance/form, keeping hands up,active footwork, chin tucked...

I think Floyd Mayweather's style would be better then Toney's for MMA, though they may rush him he has the defensive style and footwork to get his back off the cage snd use lateral movement and his hand speed is probably the fastest that any Mixed martial artist has seen. So i believe he does have the boxing to beat some mixed martial artists.

footwork is key to mma. as long as you can jump backwards and push your opponent off, you can prevent the takedown. its worked for me in the past. lateral movement also works wonders, as does countering as they try to close the distance. sometimes holding behind the head and/or pushing their head down can prevent the takedown altogether.

the real reason Toney id ****ty in mma is because hes a ****ty fighter now in general. fat, shot, drunk, and only went into it to cash out and lose on purpose. not that Im saying he could have been amazing in mma had he not been all the above, but he certainly would have actually done something.

I mean ****, the UFC made photoshopped pictures of how in shape he was to display on their website. he was brought in as a sacrificial lamb and nothing else.

if youre a boxer, you have a better chance at winning in mma match if youre a big puncher...floyd is far from that, thus he aint got no chance...
