I personally think Floyd would fight Martinez assuming he comes out of retirement, it'd have to be soon as I don't think Martinez will struggle to make 154lb if he starts growing into the middleweight division.

That being said beating Martinez does more for Cotto, Pacquiao and Mayweather than it would for Martinez himself. I wouldn't exactly give him high praise for winning the fight unless it is apparent that size wasn't a factor in the fight and that he beat them by putting on a clinic.

To say there is absolutely no precedent for my thoughts is incorrect. When Mayweather came out of retirement, he fought the pound for pound number 2 in Marquez then followed up with the number one guy at Welterweight in Mosley rated number 3 in the world.

Martinez is a top guy in his division like Mosley and rated highly in the world.
