Actually read the damn question. Who is the more "skilled"
Not who fought the better opposition. Good god. By some of the logic on this forum, I guess "margarito" is one of the most "skilled" fighters ever.

Stylistically sergio outskill spacman and it isn't even close. Other GREATS who weren't that SKILLED include George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Henry Armstrong, etc.

Sergio shows his ability to counter, movement, ability to slip punches, fight in the inside, outside, and whilst moving.

Pacmans defense is NOT better than sergios (or more skillful). pacman unrelenting offense is his defense the majority of the time.. or just putting his gloves up.

His foot work is decent, moving in and out, but it isn't " ring generalship" like sergio uses his foot work.

Punch selection seems about even, although Sergio is more a precision punches off the start where as pacman is a combination puncher. The skill his is subjective. IMO the timing sergio uses requires more reflex thus more skilled.

The list goes on.. actually look at how they fight. Sergio is a more skillfull fighter than pacman. As is donaire.
It's just two totally different styles. You really can't say Sergio is more skillful than Pac based on his kind of fighting style. The thing is that Pac has the credibility of fighting more top class fighters than Sergio and has beaten them with his style (skills). Sergio isn't any less of a skillful fighter, he just hasn't warranted any belief that he has better skills Pac just yet.

Do you consider Sergio's ring generalship against Pavlik (before the round 7, where Pavlik's other eye had a cut) a very good one?

      I think Pavlik is overrated.

nope. pac is better skilled. he moves and uses his legs better. quicker, uses better angles. sergio is close but he will beat pac coz of his size even at catchweight

          my questions:

Is combination punching not a skill?
is a fighter's style the same as skill? coz pac's style sometimes doesn't look good on the eyes.

I still think pac's more skillful by using his technique and adjusting and making it effective.

They are about even.Martinez is more versatile but Pacman's offensive skills are 2nd to none.I saw someone post about if they were the same size Pacman smashes him,I don't know bout that Martinez gives angles, slips punches counters well & throws a good jab & a commanding left hand.In short,Martinez would be the best boxer & strongest since Marquez, tough tough night either way.But right now at 154 Martinez destroys him because of his size & skill combined.

I think sergios counter mind set shows sharp reflexes and timing which is more of a skill than pacquires combinations punching. Pacman is the result of hard work, big balls, and great conditioning.

When pacman drops his hands and slips punches, then talk to me.
i think u summed that up very nicely. i agree. doesnt mean that martinez would beat pac if they were the same weight. but i totally agree on the analysis.

So your not against Pacquiao vs Martinez then?

Martinez' footwork can get pretty sloppy. He had footwork mistakes that ended up in KDs against PW and Pavlik. Pacquiao's footwork has improved tremendously. I haven't seen him off balance like that in years.

If they were the same size, Pac would most likely win.
Martinez has never faced a fighter of Pac's calibur...
they might go the distance but I don't think he'll last like Cotto
