Sergio Martinez is not ducking Pirog!

You seriously haven't heard of Santos? Ok, he's never been a megastar, but the dude was a serious name at 154 for years, beating Margarito twice. I don't expect every boxing fan to have seen him fight, but not to know a fighter like that is bizarre to me if you consider yourself a big boxing fan...Comment

The best way to determine that someone is ducking someone is easy. First, the aforementioned "ducker" fights and puts on the performance of his career. Then, right after the fight, look for a fighter that could give him problems. Then, when his promoter says that he's not a big enough draw, assume the fighter is ducking the fighter.
Use your heads, people. That's obvious.
If you don't fight fighters back-to-back, then you have to assume they are ducking.
Don't worry about the fact that Pirog isn't a big enough draw and has only had ONE noteworthy fight. Don't worry about the fact that Pirog should just keep building his name like Martinez did and then make a huge fight in a year in and a half. Don't worry about the fact that Martinez has big-money options coming up.
No.. Don't do that. Just assume he's a ducker. That's what a scientist would do, you should, too.Comment

do some people even watch boxing? several people have mentioned how santos beat margarito twice. the first fight ended in a NC in the first round. the second fight was a controversial split technical decision that santos won in puerto rico. i had margarito winning that fight as well.Comment

All these internet warriors are never satisfied no matter what. It makes me wonder why they even watch boxing if all they do is bitch about every fighter no matter what.Last edited by sweetpea87; 03-17-2011, 08:33 PM.Comment

None of you dumb ***s knew who pirog was. He knocks out a guy who most thought was overrated and now your guys are saying serg is ducking pirog? Out of all the fighters being called duckers its maravilla?Comment

That's a different argument. I would like to see HBO give him his shot. But, his promoters should also be trying to build his name on SHOWTIME and ESPN as well. He simply seems happy with that one big fight and now just keeping busy. I don't see the logic in that.Comment

hbo wanted pirog back on but they didn't have a fight for him. the only middleweights they have are martinez, pavlik and williams. martinez wanted none of him, pavlik was a drunk/moving up in weight, and williams wants a softer touch coming off a loss. hbo certainly isn't gonna let pirog fight a soft touch like dzinziruk or manfredo. he's not in cherry pick mode. he's still in matched tough mode.Comment
