I think it is wise to go and make his own name in the sport. Bob Arum has a plan and I think he didn't want to be handling two Pinoy big money fighters. Keep one on the back burner OR Manny was just a lil jealous and wanted to be the only Pinoy getting it in. We really don't know but the reasons she's stated. Can't be mad at that.

As Michael Koncz indicated in his rebuttal, it's business. Why should anyone be upset at a guy who gets punched in the face for a living, wanting to make as much money as he can to secure his family. His wife is also saying all the right things, he wants to fight the best opposition available - that's how you become a crossover star. I just hope his wife isn't another Jin, seems to come off that way.

Really don't know what's wrong with the wife taking care of her husband's best interests. If I were Donaire I would look at other options other than Arum's way of doing things. Donaire is a superstar now and should be treated as such.
This is the problem with boxing today. Even if the boxer wants to fight as often as he wants to, it takes time to come up with something. Donaire barely gets scratches when he fights. Man, this guy can fight 10 times a year.

****** move in my opinion... Manny is on his way out and all Donaire has to do is stick around a bit longer and inherit all those fans.
Anyways, this all seems like the work of the wife... Envy comes to mind.
Which future ATGs or HOFs will Donaire get matched up by GBP to get him to Manny-level?

I had a feeling some of the reason Donaire went to GBP was because Bob Arum never put him on any of Mannys huge PPV undercards. I mean I never understood this, he could have started to help build Donaires fanbase so when Manny retires, he has another potential star. Every Filipino I know (and I have alot of friends who are Filipino) all know Manny but never even heard of Donaire. If he would have fought on only one Manny undercard, a good portion would know who he is...
Plus, I don't know about you guys, but I never once paid for a Pinoy Power or Latin Fury PPV. I am unemployed and can't pay extra for HBO/Showtime quality fights, even if they are only $30. At least with GBP, he should be showcased on HBO on a regular basis which is much better than some cheeseball low budget PPV. He'll get much more exposure this way...
And just for the record, I don't love GBP! I hate all the scumbag promoters: Gary Shaw, Top Rank, GBP, Don King, etc. They are all capitalistic crooks who only think about their bank account and could give two ****s about their fighters. When ODLH first became a promoter, I thought "Hey, he's been the guy getting punched and still has some brain cells left, maybe he can change the way the sport is run!" But then, when he tried to buy Manny with a suitcase full of cash (taking a page out of Don Kings playbook), I lost all respect for him. So, for the record, I believe they all suck ballsack but in this instance, I understand why Donaire left...
