    People call Sergio overhyped but...

You want him to face Dymitry Pirog, what is the hypocricy in that, If you say Sergio's latest wins haven't proven anything then tell me what has Pirog done to make him rid Sergio of being overhyped I mean come on the guy beat another prospect for a title that was rightfully Sergio's. I can't deny Pirog's skills or him being the best challenge at 160 for Sergio but really beating him doesn't prove anything at all because he is unproven. You criticize Sergio's win over Dzinziruk but Serhiy was a proven fighter. He needs good wins before going over to Sergio Martinez.

u misunderstand. heterosexuals want sergio 2 fight a non-goat herder. but it doesn't mean beating a non-goat herder (pirog) makes him a good fighter.

no matter what sergio s still overhyped by sergiosexuals n no matter what sergio still fights w/ his hands low like a n00b n any legit fighter n his weight class will KO him easy.

Pavlik couldn't KO him nor Williams, those are legit fighters in the 160 lbs. division. Unbelievable people are hating on one of the only boxers doing things right continually fighting the best opponents there are. The other day someone mentioned how the fans are the ones killing the sport I can't help but think he is right.

Dzinziruk was unproven and he fought him at middleweight too. He was ranked #8 at jr middle by the ring. Pirog is ranked #7 at middleweight. The only reason Martinez doesn't want to fight Pirog is because he brings little money and too much risk to his quest of big paydays against Floyd, Pac and Cotto. He said it himself in a recent interview. Fair enough but you can't criticise Pac and Mayweather and then bring this guy up as a "breath of fresh air", "old school fighter" who will fight everyone because he clearly won't, and is seeking to do EXACTLY what the money men are. Remember Martinez was a nobody who was fighting nobodies not that long ago. If he was treated like he and DiBella are treating Pirog he might never have got his chance to be where he is.

I don't think Martinez is overhyped, but I don't get your argument. You say that Pirog is the best challenge at 160, but that he should fight people to prove himself. Seems a bit ****** really, wanting someone to prove something that you already know to be true.

Plus, if you want Sergio's biggest challenge to fight other people, what do you want Sergio to do in the meantime? Fight people who aren't his biggest challenge and who have proven even less?

I'm saying that he could provide a big challenge but he needs to solydify himself more in the division and being as inactive as Pirog has been since beating Jacobs is not the way to do it. Sergio could fight Sturm or even Angulo (if he is willing to accept to fight Sergio) in the meantime.

Yeah, Pirog should've fought again before now, but Angulo has proven even less than Pirog has and was outboxed fairly easily the only time he stepped up his level of competition.

I wouldn't have a problem with Martinez-Sturm, but Sturm hasn't had a notable win in quite some time and I don't think he'd do any better than Dzinziruk. I don't see Pirog beating Martinez either but he has a chance.
