actually brawlers would be a field day for him, countering and ring movement all night.

a smart pressure fighter that can force him to fight on the inside would give him hell however. his stamina isnt the best around, and he doesnt seem to care much for infighting.

there's a huge difference between brawling and applying pressure to make a man fight.

martinez has shown some glimpses of weakness in many of his fights
      he takes breaks
he fights a very high strung, high intensity style
hell, his hands are sometimes below his knees!
you gotta be wound up tight to fight like that and get away with it.

      he's got a tremendous engine
but he seems to slow down before he gets his second wind
it's impossible to fight that way for 12 rounds

kelly pavlik made a surge, and then got his face busted up with combinations.
cintron got a huge break when he was counted out and then allowed to continue, but he got in some decent work late in that fight.
dzinziruk touched him up in the middle rounds and even cut him.

i think if he's going to lose it's going to be against somebody who's capable of pressuring him for 12 rounds without allowing him to rest.
who can take his punch, and wont be discouraged.
i'm thinking somebody with young legs
and he's likely going to have to win via stoppage, because maravilla is a hot ticket now, and he's got maybe the flashiest style in the game.

i think we're likely to see maravilla tested again (simmilar to his work late in the first williams fight) in the near future
perhaps against kirkland or angulo, though i believe both might be a bit too crude, and far too slow.

if he makes it past a young lion at 160 and there's truely nobody left with any clout (all he's got now are the guys who might move up from 54 and 47 and a williams trilogy)
he's got some guys at 168 that might just thump him up
froch is a real big man
andre ward would try brutalize maravilla inside
bute is a tough nut to crack with his size and speed and canadian judging

he gets by those guys and he's a HOFer

and he should ride off into retirement before he hits 40
he'll go down as one of the great late bloomers in the sport

i think he's got tremendous conditioning and was blessed with a great engine by god

he just fights like he's on fast forward
he's gotta take a break at some point

i got a chance to see him at foxwoods
he moves around the ring like he's on a string

would you agree that maybe he doesnt yet have the best "mental" stamina?
as in fighting 12 rounds of a world championship fight isnt natural to him yet?

according to the boxrec he fought a 4 rounder in '08 lol

you mean he doesnt know how to pace himself, or rather is too excited in the ring and wears himself out? its possible.

all I know is that I have seen him get tired in the later rounds of fights, and I would expect a fighter to have success if they tried to exploit that.

Yup, blocking punches with his face is his defense.

Just like he outworks every other defensive fighter.
              you just owned him.

plus his age is against him now (36- how long can he continue for), so if you make him work every minute of the fight itcoul be trouble.

I thought Williams had the Octopus style.
