Great steal by Golden Boy. The Filipino market is an untapped resource, and Donaire will most likely emerge to be the country's biggest star seeing that Pac is on his way out..
In any case, let see if HBO will take a hands off approach on this issue seeing that we might see a contract dispute between GB and top rank on Donaire's fights.
HBO did this in 2006 with Pac when they refuse to carry any of his fight as long as there is a lawsuit still hanging, which is why we saw Marquez-MAB in HBO, and Pac-Solis in a in-house top rank PPV.
But I doubt HBO would do the same since Golden Boy was not the one that got ****ed.. Case in point, they didn't do the same when Ortiz jumped from Top Rank to GB, and Campbell from DK to GB. In both cases these incident reached the courts, and yet we saw HBO broadcasting fight on both fighters.

I can't blame Donaire. But I'll blame him if they were not careful enough of seeing a loss coming after a lawsuit.
Rachel (in an interview) said that they were supposed to have 3 fights a year in three years based on the contract...Arum only gave Nonito 2 fights/year. He did not fulfill the contract as agreed. What are they suppose to do? Just suck it up? :?
Secondly, Donaire, even before he became a superflyweight (after the Darchinyan fight), already expressed that he wanted to unify the superflyweight division, Arum seemed not to listen to his wishes. Then after destroying Montiel, he expressed again his intention to unify, this time the bantamweights, but Arum has other things in mind as Arum kept saying that the best fights are in the 122lb and 126lb- divisions.
Questions: Does the fighter have a "voice" when it comes to fighting who he wants to fight? Is the fighter merely a pawn to his promoter...meaning, what the promoter wants, the promoter gets? What about the fighter's wishes and desires? Can a fighter fight someone who, he thinks, is competitive enough for him? Who has the last say in every fight? Is it the fighter or the promoter?

who has wv2 beaten lately??
Personally, I think Donaire left Bob Arum because he didn't get him any big fights after he left Shaw for 3 straight years before he faced Montiel. The only reason Bob made that fight was because he was forced to because Donaire was pushing for it and he figured if he got him that big fight, he might stay. He was stuck on independent PPV cards that I never buy and with GBP, he will get much more exposure on HBO which is better for him the those Pinoy Power PPVs...
So, now, let's hope Moreno signs with GBP and then we get Donaire vs. the winner of Agbeko vs. Mares and Moreno could fight Parra as part of an HBO doubleheader and then the winners of those can fight each other for the undisputed bantamweight champ. And even if Moreno loses, Donaire will move up after that and GBP still has good fights for Moreno. In a perfect world, this all works out...

As long as he fights Moreno and the showtime winner then thats all i care about.
Fights with Gamboa and JML are at least 2 or 3 years away from happening, and will likely be at 130 so will worry about that then..
