Can Martinez move up and win?

Martinez and Dibella seems to spend a fair bit of time these days calling out either Pacquiao or Mayweather. Martinez is a middle weight. Both of those two are welterweights, (actually pac is still closer to a junior-welter). Super-middle weight is a lot closer than is welter, and there is tonnes of competition there.

Dibella has already said they won't fight Pirog- the one guy who is certainly a challenge after what he did to Golden Boy's Jacobs. David Lemieux is still too green. Martinez fought this Eastern European title holder closer to his natural weight, than coming down to 154 where his opponent held the title.

I love how Martinez fights and I don't see why he can't go up to fight the likes of Bute, Ward, Froch, etc. Pavlik is going to 168 and Martinez beat him.
    So how about it?

It's time for Martinez to do what Pacquiao and Mayweather both did- move up and win titles.

of course he can. he's too much of a b*tch right now & too busy picking on money fights vs 147 pounders.

physically, he is more than capable to fight at 168.

He could move up in weight class but i highly doubt that he can do the things that his doing now. Not to mention, can he replicate what Pacquiao is doing againts bigger and high-caliber guys by beating the crap out of them?! Sergio should fight and beat Bute and Ward if he wants to be P4P #1.

          why would he?
          Martinez just got to 160
no one left there, but 168 is high for him
he could beat sloppy guys like Froch there though
not impressed by Bute or Steiglitz, Martinez can beat them too

Martinez is a small middleweight and will have some issue with guys that show 10-15 lbs heavier than him for the fight. At this time He should stick with middleweights.

No he should stay away from 168 t much power and with the extra weight he might slow or taking those hits from bigger guys can wear on your body and he's already 36 see where I'm going before you know he'll slow down and out he goes. But at this point he beats ward not glen or Froch or bute to much power to aggressive

He's reached his limit it terms of beating elite guys at a certian weight. If matched correctly he could be some guys at 168.

But the elite like Bute and Ward are a step to far.
