Cotto Now The #1 Ranked JR Middleweight By The Ring And ESPN

That means if I am correct that Cotto has been ranked #1 in every division he has fought as a pro. That includes 140, 147 and now 154. That is pretty big if you ask me.

cotto was never the #1 guy at 140.

when cotto finally became #1 at 147 , margarito beat his ass down in his next fight.

    dejavu at 154 i guess.

He was ranked #1 at 140 for sometime. Don't confuse being the champ in the division with being ranked #1.

As far as the rematch with Margarito we will see what happens. Margarito has looked like **** since the Mosley fight and the first fight was a very close fight even with Cotto fighting the wrong fight since the start of the bell, making mistakes like staying in the ropes for long periods of time giving Margarito chnces to trap him and don't forget about the possibility of loaded gloves. Is a fight that I think Cotto will win rather easily if he keeps it in the middle of the ring, clinches and uses his jab.

don't confuse being ranked #1 when there is a champion to being #1.

when you're #1 without a champion then you're the #1 guy in that division. when there is a champ in the division , you're #2 in the division.

well in fairness, Kermit Cintron was the #1 rated guy prior to this. Alfredo Angulo was #2, Ryan Rhodes #4 and so on.

So no one in the division really has done enough to claim the top spot. So it's not that bad when you realize that.

I mean here are the Ring's ratings as of now, can any of these guys truly be higher ranked than cotto? Now of course, there are guys at 154 who would beat him not on that list, like Kirkland and probably paul williams for example, and also maybe the cuban lara.

Most definitely. In hotness, personality and certainly as far as politics go.
