Pacquiao vs Mayweather a lot like Pacquiao vs Clottey

Mayweather is better than Clottey, lets get that out of the way first.

But they are the same height, reach and similar build (Clottey is a bit bigger), have about equal power and Clottey has a very tight defence like Floyd. Floyd's shoulder roll will not work against Pacquiao so he will come forward with a high guard much like he did vs Judah.

Clottey vs Judah

(High tight guard, lead right hands and body shots, everything short and crisp). Clottey has deceptive hand speed and throws very straight and accurate shots


Mayweather vs Judah

(Sorta uses his Philly shell stance although squares up with forearms, faster than Clottey and smarter) Floyd used to have a lot faster feet than Clottey but right now, not so much.


Bottom line Pacquiao throws and lands more, Clottey lands cleaner.
Pacquiao wins.

Difference is, Floyd is more aggressive against southpaws, doesn't get pushed back as often, and unlike Clottey, Floyd actually has upperbody movement.

Don't see what you can gain from the Clottey fight.

agreed....except pac will get hit a few more times by mayweather than he did by clottey, but then again he will hit floyd more than he hit clottey aswell, so either way pac wins...............

marquez is an excellent counter puncher and he gave pac lots of problems. Floyd will be a big problem for pac.

This is a tough fight for both guys. Clottey doesn't tell you a damn thing except his style of fighting is terrible against volume punchers (see winky wright vs paul williams as another example of that).

Comparing clottey to floyd is like comparing a boeing 757 to a F-18 fighter jet. Totally different.

Actually floyd doesn't counter as well when he is using his high guard than his shoulder roll. that's why he is more aggressive when he is using the high guard because he has to score points.

And that's what Pac wan't. For floyd to throw punches. I agree that floyd will definitely be more active than clottey but if he does it presents more openings for Pac.
