why not? that would be win win for cotto. IF he moves and fight for a belt(even if its a catchweight) he can go for a fourth division. I think no other puertorrican has done that. If he losses it was too much and can keep his head up, if he wins he's p2p no2 just like that and go for manny at 154
well not major titles (wbo, wbc, ring, wba, ibf) but with minor titles, professional boxing of course, Macho Camacho is a 7 division champ.
Of course, a major title for a 4th division would be awesome, but Cotto is already small for 154, I think we're just dreaming now lol
Only bad matchups for Cotto are pressure fighters IMO. He has no issues taking out slick/defensive fighters with boxing skill. See Cotto vs Judah, Cotto vs Malignaggi, Cotto-Clottey. I think Cotto can surprise some people against Sergio, especially when Maravilla like clockwork fades in the mid rounds. Especially at 154, Sergio's stamina will be even worse.
Cotto-Martinez will happen in the fall, it's already agreed upon. Arum just wants to squeeze out one more in-house money fight beforehand, naturally a Cotto-Margarito rematch is the most lucrative outside of a Pacquiao fight. Miguel is by far the more established fighter and bigger draw so he and Arum will call all the shots (split, weight, venue, etc) and Sergio and Dibella will have no choice but to smile and say 'yes sir'. But at least it'll be Maravilla's first big money brawl, he's earned it.
And how can anyone hate on Cotto? Man never ducks anyone, always willing to take on the best
agreed, but he has balls to want this fight. I wonder if he would go up to 160 to make it happen. Martinez IS a small MW after all
I don't understand how he is a small Middleweight though. I don't get it. I almost want to make a thread about it, asking for everyone's input but i'm too lazy. So i'm just gonna ask here, how is he a small MW? Is it his height? he's 5' 10", that's the average height for MW's in the 160 top 10. Is it his weight? on fight night, he weighs in as a Super Middleweight/almost a LHW just like all other MW's.
So I don't get it, what is it that makes him a small MW? I am confused as to why some people say this.
