You know what I have to admit. I'd be way more satisfied with Floyd crushing Manny (and I think he will) than touching up Martinez for 12 rounds (who is the better boxer). The build up makes the fight and through all the storyline backing a Pacquiao/Mayweather fight its an instant classic regardless of what happens in the ring. Martinez vs either is a consolation prize.
Would Pac beating Martinez be a better win than Mayweather?

Martinez is just a bigger man. His smarts are not close because he gets hit when he opens up. Floyd dont get hit too often and thats ring smarts. I'll put it like this. If Pac beats Martinez we'll still pray for Pac/May. If Pac beats Floyd then Pac/Martinez wont be a big deal. It becomes a "it would be nice" fight.
if pac beats floyd, people will demand a martinez fight even more than they are now....just my 2 centsComment

considering that floyd's a WW
largely inactive
was almost knocked out by shane mosley (who is shot to ****, sadly)
the two wins wouldnt even be worthy of comparison in the eyes of somebody who actually understands boxing
maravilla is the MW world champion (the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy)
he's a power puncher and would likely gun to knock pacquiao out, whereas floyd couldnt stop juan manuel marquez (a guy smaller than pacquiao by about five or ten lbs) with his best effort
to the average fan (plenty of the folk here included, mind you,) a martinez win wouldnt be nearly the win a floyd win would be
but in the terms of historical impact on boxing
a win over sergio martinez (especially an impressive one, without a catchweight and with a decisive victory)
would be ranked high on the list of great wins in any fighter's career
no former flyweight champion has come close to what manny has accomplished anyway
he doesnt need mayweather or martinez to get him into the HOF five years after he retires
or to get ranked in the top 20 greatest fighters ever
but if he beats maravilla at 160
all bets are offComment

are you serious?
do these guys live in a time capsule or something?
martinez lost to margarito a decade ago
as a WW
if you are serious and not intentionally trying to clog these boards up with complete nonsense

Its not nonsense if its the truth. What is it with you guys and erasing history to prove an invalid point. What gives you that right?Comment

you know thats somethign thats really startin to get on my nerves, is people mentioning how Margarito "beat" Martinez, people if they fought now what do you think would happen 10 out of 10 times.....
Just like Margarito has a bunch of losses early in his career from like the age of 17 to like 21, what do you think would happen if he fought those guys now...
Dont bring up that win like a claim to put Marg over Martinez, yes he has a win over Martinez, a very long time ago at their begginning of their careers, leave it at that....Comment

I think at this point Mayweather should fight Pacquiao, and if not then Martinez. It would be the only fight worth watching. I feel the same way about Pac, but Pac has more options against the best at 140.Comment
