Maybe here on this forum they don't get a lot of love, but most of the boxing fans I know love the Klitschko's and obviously I live in America. I realize the country is a lot bigger than the little section of it I live it, but the Klitschko's aren't disliked because they are from another country. They are disliked because they aren't maulers in the ring and American fans tend to like beast like Tyson. As far as being marketed as being a big deal, that's on The Klitschko's. Maybe if they did more over here in the states instead of fighting most of their fights in Germany the American fans would embrace them. I remember some odd years ago when they were being heavily featured on HBO, they WERE marketed as the best heavyweights in the world, their fights were heavily hyped, and at the time, America was in love with them. After Lewis refused to fight Vitali in a rematch, and Wladimir lost to Brewster is when most of the American fanbase dropped off for them, and wouldn't you know it, how convenient is this, that is when they started fighting primarily overseas. They just haven't had a lot of exposure over here, and that is what you are seeing a reflection of. That is not due to any kind of bias by Americans, that is due to the Klitschko's doing all their business over there instead of over here.

I can remember before Manny Pacquiao was getting a lot of exposure, nobody I knew had even heard of him. Now, most of them love him, and look at the correlation here. He gets a lot of American exposure, he's a God, before that, a nobody and he was still an amazing fighter before that. Same case here with the Klitschko's, and I will maintain to the death that their nationality has nothing to do with it. I think you'd like that to be the case so you can have something else to bash Americans with or hate them for.

Exactly. The American approach always was "Messy brawl > Surgical dominance" thus Americans prefer 12-round slug fests with toe-to-toe action and and skin-to-skin fluid exchanges. For me such messy brawls are just a proof of a failure to keep the opponent at bay.

This is not true. They are at the very top while the KOperformance of Clay is at the bottom and of Larry Holmes is in the middle.

Never in the history of boxing has a KOer like Wlad existed before.

Sergio is not popular in America. not even close. its only Manny Pacquiao. so who else besides Manny? thats right! NONE..

like ive said if the Klits brothers were American they would be in the boxing pedestal the way they dominate the Heavyweight division and more hype..

They are dominant HWs that are not american, most americans hate that foreigners have he audacity to rule boxing's biggest division, a division they used to rule. But since they can't do anything about it, they resort to the measures they have left: discrediting them.

Prove it. Prove that the competition is weak. And don't give me some "everybody knows that Ali had the best" or "If you can't see it then you are blind" nonsense.

Prove it that Klitschko's competition is weaker than, say, Larry Holmes' competition.

Then why is he headlining cards on HBO while the Klitschkos aren't? So much for the "Americans hate foreigners" excuse.

Wlad used to be great to watch back in the day but his style since the Brewster fight has not been great. I would rather see the old Wlad that got into exciting fights and was sometimes knocked out than the current effective but rather bland Wlad.

Didn't you post exactly this in another thread? I'm going to give you the same answer: Wlad will do what it's best for his health and his legacy, not what you would like to watch.

To be totally honest most Americans dont hate the Klitsko's. This forum is full of hate for every boxer at the top of their game. I honestly think they're pretty good but wouldnt lose a wink of sleep over missing their fights. They are just unappealing to watch. When I team that up with them being in such a limited division it makes them as foreign to me as the straw weight division(who I plan to study up on). It's more that Americans disregard them than hate them. We could live with or without them in boxing is all. When their supporters bring them up in conversations about elite fighters its pestering to discuss. Its like "Yeah they're good. Can we move on please?" No matter how you feel about it Haye is the best thing to happen to the Klits. He creates a tolerable dialogue for debates that include Wlad and Vit.
