I agree that Pirog is overrated but how else can he challenge the notion of being untested other than fighting Martinez?

Its a money decision. If its anybody that doesnt cherry pick its Martinez.

        Throw him in with Pavlik.

At a catchweight? 166? Close fight, Pavlik may be too strong late in the fight.

Thats a better tester than watching Martinez outclass him for 4 rounds.

Hasn't Martinez said in a previous interview that he thought Pirog was talented and would like too fight him ?, ''not ever fighting Pirog'' are just the words of DiBella not Martinez like people here are making out.

Don't believe anything he said for a second, ''We don't want to fight him because he stole our belt'' is a pretty poor excuse, sounds like DiBella doesn't want him for whatever reason.

Pirog needs more fights against some top opposition before he stands a chance at Martinez anyway imo, would be a good fight but Martinez wins at this stage, most rounds would look competitive because of Pirogs awkward style but Martinez wins them clearly, Martinez via UD or possible KO (how is Pirog's chin ?).

dibella wants nothing to do with pirog. he keeps going out of his way to discredit him saying how he's not a draw and doesn't bring any money. you just fought dzinziruk so cram it! you aren't gonna get a big site fee or live gate fighting either guy. not to mention hbo puts up the money regardless of the opponent. hbo would have approved martinez-pirog in an instant but he wasn't on dibella's list of potential opponents weird!

they paid dzinziruk 850k and martinez 1.2 mill. pirog probably would have fought for much less than 850k(he made 50k agaisnt jacobs) and martinez could have took a larger portion of the pie so don't you dare say it's about money. martinez would have made more fighting pirog! it's about pirog being too good and potentially upsetting dibella raking in the money. he saw first hand what happened to jermain taylor when he matched him tough and he's not gonna let that happen again.

Beat 1 or 2 of those guys and prove you are a legit contender then you can fight Sergio. Till that happens Pirog is unproven and strictly hype. His best win is beating a 20 year old boy.
Pirog beat Tateovosyan before Froch or Bute fought him. Tatevosyan was a 30 fight pro and Russian MW Champ and Pirog beat him in his 4th pro fight.

His win over Toygonbayev is better than a Manfredo win

his Mitchel win is on par with a Manfredo win.

His wins over Jantuah and Jacobs is better than a Lee win would be.

Fact is he's done more than Martinez ever did before his fight with Cintron and he is a worthy challenger on accomplishment and is more than worthy in terms of his talent and the style matchup.

They're open to fighting Lee or Chavez but neither of them are on par with Pirog's accomplishments, forget about skill level
