I've always been a fan of unifying the belts, that's what I think should be the goal for any champ if at all possible.

Unification bout between Martinez vs Pirog beats ANY OTHER fight you can make at 160. I promise you that or prove me otherwise. What other fight is there that is as appealing as priog vs martinez at 160???

Sergio needs to man up for what. When he fights Pirog who is a good looking fighter with height, skills and pressure. He may look good for a while but if Martinez wins easily then he still want get credit for beating Pirog. You double standard ******** on here will only give the current fighter of the year credit if he beats a Klitscho brother it seems. Why dont people stop supporting Bob Arum with his rediculous fights and make him put his guys in with real competition. Simply put Martinez #1 P4P fighter in the world.

Hopkins already did that, he lost to Taylor, Taylor lost to Pavlik, Pavlik lost to Sergio, the lineage has not been broken and because of it the belts don't mean anything so why bother?

If Pirog wants a shot he should get on TV and look impressive against other prospects like Lemieux, Guerrero, and others so ppl demand the fight and he has a real case.

Whatever the reason the belts were scattered doesn't mean I don't want to see them unified. I think it's good for the sport.

Look, I'm not one of those guys saying Martinez MUST fight Pirog RIGHT now or he's ducking him! I understand building up the fight. Personally, I think by the end of the year Martinez will realize pirog is one of the best options for him because there aren't too many guys he can fight and floyd & pac aren't coming to 154. Also, I believe HBO is giving Pirog a date soon after his upcoming fight in Russia, so that could build it up some more.

Lou does have a point. A win over Pirog won't get him anywhere. Pirog should be fighting more and facing more legit opponents before facing an opponent like Martinez. Unlike Martinez, Pirog hasn't done anything since his Jacob win. I don't want to see Martinez fight an untested opponent who has great potential. I want the Martinez-Pirog fight to build up first before we get too ahead of ourselves. Pirog is good but right now he doesn't have a chance with Martinez, IMO at least. Let Pirog fight better opponents first before we can feed him to the lions.
I think Martinez vs Sturm is legitimate as a next step up.

Unlike Dzinziruk, Pirog's hands aren't the only thing moving, he attacks from different angles, can counter, really good defense/ upperbody movement, attacks the body well (That would greatly help since Martinez has stamina issues). 160 is crazy talented, only problem is...alot of guys haven't done much in that division, but Pirog, Pirog would greatly challenge Martinez, beat him IMO.
Well said.. Serg is at that point where there are still some doubters. He has definitely looked impressive but this would be a step in shutting his boxing critics.

jeez, even kelly pavlik won all the middle rounds and scored a knock down before his face opened up and martinez took over. He is beatable.

Pirog is a bit untested but his skills speak for themselves. It would be a good fight.

I never jumped on the Maravilla Express, I liked the guy but wasnt quite ready to jump on and i'm still holding off jumping on fully, but I do think he is a very gifted fighter and he's quickly making me a fan.

I agree - Fcuk Pirog at the moment, he hasnt done enough YET...but he's not far away either. What Martinez should do in my opinion is forget about guys 2 divisions lower then him and focus on the guys 1 division above him, 168...the winner or runner up of the Super Six will have had a ton of TV, Media & general press coverage and be a great test for Martinez but he could look at Bute, Dirrell, Kessler as an interim...if he can get past that then i'm on the express, but until then i'm liking what I see, but i want to see him in with guys who have advantages over him as he always seem to hold the advantages.
