so steward thinks that cotto wasn't able to sit down on his punches and wants cotto to stand right in front of margs...
sounds like cotto is gonna get another beatingComment

Excellent observation by Steward, which is why he is who he is. Sadly I don't see Cotto being able to handle the same kind of pressure. The only hope Cotto has IMHO is if after the Pac fight Marg has nothing left.Comment

And it amazes me that people like you think he didnt cheat in the biggest fight of his career at the time, but yet tried to cheat in a fight in which everyone had him picked to win by a landslide (Mosley) . The proof is in the pudding my man. I doubt he got busted the first time he cheated. For the record though I am a fan of both fighters, and I do belive margarito wins again.. Styles make fights and Cotto doesnt do well against someone with Margos style.Comment

I really think the rematch will be epic...anyways this is my observation based on the Mayorga fight
Now, people might dismiss the Mayorga fight, as a lead in for the Margarito fight, but this fight perfectly has him set up for Margarito, and he passed with flying colors. Everyone says that Cotto folds to constant pressure, however Mayorga applied pressure to Cotto for nearly the entire fight, and Mayorga is physically bigger and a harder hitter than Margarito, and Cotto endured. Mayorga may not have the stamina of Margarito, but he showed that with some dedication, he can go a full 12 and keep going.
Cotto displayed a powerful body attack and jab against his much bigger foe...something he did not do against Margarito the first time. Cotto also kept Mayorga in the center of the ring, again something he did not do against Margarito. Also, Cotto has a tendency to go backwards in a straight line, however in the Mayorga fight, he shifted laterally and planted his feet. He still goes backwards in a straight line, but I think Cotto has that awareness now to shift side to side as he backpedals.
His defense still needs work, but it was on much better display. He didn't hunch over as much as he use to absorbing those nasty uppercuts. If Cotto keeps his body upright, it'll negate Margarito's uppercuts. Most of the hits Cotto absorbed came from some awkward angle that he didn't see coming. And we all know, its the hits you don't see coming hurt the most, and Cotto took them good. It is telling me that his chin is still there.
I think Mayorga and Margarito have about equal speed, and Mayorga missed alot and paid for them, same as Margarito. If Cotto keeps off the ropes and fights laterlly and commits to a body attack, I think he can win.
The keys for Margarito is to cut off the ring and throw them rights over top the jab. I think Cotto will commit to the jab and say upright, taking away the type of fight he had the first time. So he'll have to fight I think a little taller and go overhand. The only problem for him is that his body will be a bit more exposed. I think its going to be an interesting chest match. Margarito can't no longer just go in on a fighter willy nilly, not with the face breaking that Pacquaio gave him. That side of the his face is going to be open to the Cotto jab and will make him vulnerable. We can't discount it
I'm excited, easily my most anticpated fight, moreso than Pac or Mayweather. They are both OGs and its going to be electric. I just hope its on the east coast so I can attend itComment

If that version of Cotto on that night had a different gameplan then he could have won. If he clinched at all he could have won.
But now that Marg has tasted Cotto's power and Cotto's confidence isn't as high, I'm not sure subtle changes will work. Marg is still a bull. He'll walk through everything Cotto throws again. And Cotto is still open for those same punches Marg throws. Uppercuts and overhand rights.Comment
