Cotto fought the wrong fight against Margarito. He not only let margarito impose his will on him but he failed to make marg pay when he made him miss his shots. Even early on it seemed as though Cotto was content on distancing himself from Marg when he missed and even allowing Margarito to get his shots off first instead.

I'm still up in the air as to whether or not I believe Margarito's gloves were loaded b/c I think Cottos face would have worse and he might not have been able to last as long as he did, I mean his face looked almost the same after his fight Pacquiao and we all know the Cottos a big guy that drains himself to make weight which can cause alot of swelling. Anyways those are just my thoughts, Margaritos gloves could of been loaded or Cotto may not have a great camp but one thing for sure was that neither man wasn't the same after that night!!

Cotto didn't have the stamina to move that much or fight at that kind of a pace against Margarito. The problem imo was that Margarito was easy to hit n Cotto couldn't help let his hands go every chance he got, he was averaging like 80 punchers per round. If you can't hurt a guy which Cotto can't do to Margarito n you dont have the stamina to fight 12 rounds at a high pace then you gotta pick ur shots more n box. Instead Manny wants Cotto to sit down more on his punches? For what? So Cotto can be more discouraged when Margarito takes his best shots n he sticks around longer for Margarito to beat his body while he's trying to sit down on his own punches? I think Margarito might just take Cotto out earlier if the Manny fight didn't **** him up too bad

If that version of Cotto on that night had a different gameplan then he could have won. If he clinched at all he could have won.

But now that Marg has tasted Cotto's power and Cotto's confidence isn't as high, I'm not sure subtle changes will work. Marg is still a bull. He'll walk through everything Cotto throws again. And Cotto is still open for those same punches Marg throws. Uppercuts and overhand rights.

Marg taking the manny beating was the worst thing he could have done for his career. And manny took it easy on him for the last three rounds.

Steward: "Cuz he didn't have me."

That's what he's actually trying to say.

margarito was in the middle of a scandal, he couldnt get a license anywhere... i think the beating he took from manny was the BEST move for his career. by taking a beating from manny & getting back in the spotlight, he is back in the mix.

cotto/margs "redemption" fight would be very interesting, im a fan of both.

I think Margarito made Miguel fight too fast and forced him to move around a lot very early," said Steward.
                    This is key.

If Cotto can fight in a more tempered style that doesn't involve constant movement he can win.

                    Its going to be hard.

Manny and Cotto have to sit down and dissect the first fight over and over again.

Bring in a couple of guys with similar body structures of Margo.

Cotto can win this with the right game plan.

I doubt Steward can help Cotto; Cotto has been Foreman who had 1 leg and he went 12 rounds with Mayorga who he was supposedly going to knockout in 4. Any way Margs is going to look beasty again; just like he did in 2008!!!! Cotto should be concerned~
