Agreed man. But you can't blame me for writing it since when Cotto became Junior Welterweight champ and Welterweight champ in those many fights he was more brawler puncher with technical skill winning the majority of his fights in brawler fashion. My point is Cotto became popular because of his brawler style than his boxing skills. Now, I'm saying this Cotto is more technical than before and he showed a bit of war (brawler fight) but Mayorga rocked him in round 4 or 6 (can't remember, but Mayorga still rocked Cotto that is why he said "he hits hard.") and when Cotto smiled at Mayorga after a war (brawler fight).

      TL;DR I agree with you.

Regardless of what Mayorga said, he will be back due to his money issues. I am just curious to hear the PPV numbers for this fight. I didn't buy it and I watched the HBO telecast instead but according to Ring TV, the attendance was only a little over 7k, which is really small. I would be really surprised if this PPV did over 250k since Mayorga has never looked good recently against quality opposition (Vargas excluded). But apparently from what I am reading, Mayorga did better than most expected. I wouldn't be surprised if he fights again in 6 to 9 months...

Tyson don't know **** about Cotto, he spends his days playing with pigeons and reflecting on his own irrefutable losses to Buster/Evander/Lennox. Take what you will at face value but honestly speaking, Cotto's improved more and more with each performance. No he's not the young, impulsive prospect fresh out of the olympics. We get that. The only guy who knows when to hang em' up is Miguel and I have a feeling he won't be pulling a trinidad or holyfield.
The man knows his game, and he's suggested fighting a possible 3-4 big fights before riding off into the sunset. No one gave Manny this type of **** when he opted against KOing Margs or when he couldn't put away Clottey, does this indicate Manny is past his prime? What if?Mosley gets the upset- will Pac become an overinflated myth after all? Some boxers have bad nights..you don't know what kind of distractions they deal with outside of the ring. Take this win for what it is, an exhibition of skill over brawn. Everything Cotto has done in this sport has led him to this moment and he's seized this opportunity to entertain his fans with the fruits of his labor. Margarito can mock Cotto all he wants but the champ right now, is riding on such an incredible high I see little chance in that he lets old habits dictate the way he lives and fights. Tony best acknowledge that and bring his A-Game cause the walking heavy bag tactic he employs against EVERYONE simply won't cut it. Miguel will be too slick.

And You do? I think Tyson is in a better position than you are as far as criticisms of a pugilist go.

I'm posting my thoughts here too much garbage in other threads.

Anyway, I saw the fight with Cotto vs Mayorga. I'm thinking Arum is preparing his guys who are now legitimate Super Welterweight or Junior Middleweight boxers against Sergio Martinez. Cotto's opposition has been getting bigger, faster, and stronger in his competition. Bigger (Margarito & Mayorga), faster (Pacquiao), and stronger (Mosley & Mayorga). Regardless of Mosley (39) and Mayorga's (38) age they are only removed from Martinez (36) by 3 or 2 years meaning their age difference is not really that different.

I'm thinking next year we will get to see a Sergio Martinez vs either Cotto or Margarito. I also see Mayorga fighting 2 more fights against someone notable in Top Rank stable or the loser of Cotto vs Margarito match-up.

I would like to see Cotto vs Martinez. And I would like to see Margarito vs Mayorga because Mags will cater to Mayo's war (brawl) it will be explosive. I laughed and enjoyed the Cotto vs Mayorga fight. It was entertaining.
