If Cotto was Mexican these haters would over run these boards with "Mexican Warrior" and "Mexican Heart" threads. GTFoH.
Cotto showed great discipline not getting into a brawl. His jab was a thing of beauty all night. Personally I think It's Cotto's style to beat on a trash talker for 12 methodical rounds rather than KO him in 4.
Give Mayorga props....he was determined and in shape. Yet Cotto was not having any of it. Never was baited at all.
That said Cotto did look slower and weaker than usual but his defense was better and he put in a boxing clinic for 12 rounds...classic boxer-puncher. These aren't Jr Welters anymore and it isn't 2001, Cotto cannot look like he used to against smaller guys, it's simple really.
Cotto can definitely outbox Margs and he will win on the cards because he simply too technical for Margs and I believe Steward will have him attack the body early and often but although Cotto will win on points Inthink Margs toughs him up and makes Cotto look like the loser in terms of damage inflicted. Margs is also washed up but that MoFo is relentless and punches for 12 full rounds.Comment

Come on people Cotto is not close to the fighter he once was! What happened to the game plan that Steward had to beat Mayorga, IMO Cotto took way too much punishment from a 38 year old fighter who is also way past his prime and who fought in spurts! Do people really think Cotto is a legit 154 fighter, margarito throws way more punches than Mayorga and has a way beter chin than Mayorga. It will be so damn ugly for Cotto in june, it is not even funny. If I was a real Cotto fan I would really be concerned for his safety when he fights Margarito. Steward did not improve Cotto because Cotto is a damaged fighter who cannot be improved anymore!! You have PR's and some people on here kidding themselves on here talkin about the great performance of Cotto last night!! Come on people Mayorga is 38 years old and washed up and gave Cotto way too much punishment. Arum will serve Cotto on a silver plate to MArgarito in JUne and MArgarito will eat him alive!!!!!!!!!Shame on Arum for doing it but we Mexicans will pay to see that massacre!!!!!!!Comment

You may not have a TV down south but, Margarito got prison-style **** by an elderly Mosley. I know you wanna keep acting like Mayorga is an old man though. Also, Margarito has looked anemic in his last 3 fights without the plaster-wraps. So you really have to stop kidding yourself about Margarito being Julian Jackson. Also, Cotto was still in the fight with Marg and very likely ahead in the 10th round when he gassed out after 10 rounds of plaster, so let's cut the viva mexico sht about Margarito winning every round. Keep it all in perspective kid. Margarito is not Sugar Ray Leonard when it comes to speed, and without his plaster mittens, he is NOT Julian Jackson. Cotto uses his jab this time, goes to the body this time, and dismantles Margarito round by round. Notice, he was no longer leaning forward like he used too. No more free uppercut shots for Margarito too. It amazes me how a victory based entirely on plaster/CHEATING, can be used by Mexican's as proof of what is to come in a rematch???

Cotto dominated this fight from start to finish. Mayorga won 2 rounds at best and they were really close rounds.Comment

Cotto is done he fought Mayorga for 12 rounds. Cotto will always have a hard time beating a volume puncher. To me he didnt like great Mike saw what everybody saw 2 fighters past there best but if you are a nuthugger you see nothing but a good fighter who can beat the best and that is bull crapComment
