the loser of Ortiz vs Berto

For whoever loses this fight, how will it effect their run for supremacy in their respected divisions in your opinion? How will it effect your opinion on the fighter? I wasn't really into this fight when it was first announced, but now it's sort of intriguing. In my opinion, the winner takes a small step forward, the loser takes a big step backwards. Sort of a do or die fight.

It is a do or die fight, on one hands I want berto to come out on top on the other I wish he gets wrecked for being so over protected.

Only in todays boxing does a loss mean you fall to obscruity. Back in the 30's, 40's and 50's when fighters fought every few weeks and challenged the toughest competition available. A loss against a respectable opponent only meant a rematch might be available and your reputation would be enhanced if you came out and fought the guy again. There was ducking back then e.g. Charley Burley and such but mostly guys fought each other and put on an entertaining show. Back then P4P would've been changing every two week.

I dont see Ortiz winning this fight because of speed and sharp punching. Where does the winner go from here. Berto could get Pac if floyd isnt available and Marquez does'nt sign with TOP RANK. Ortiz has to go and fight the winner of the Khan and Bradley match.

This fight is ok but Berto is still fighting a JWW when he started his career at LMW. Berto is protected and its his own fault that hes not on the P4P list, but if your making a million dollars a fight and your fighting bums then why change for a more challenging fight and make a few more pennies.

Ortiz better win or may need to switch management to resurrect his career. Young but needs to start winning to get big money fights. Judah wouldnt be a bad scrap though.

I hear you. I'm not a Berto fan by any means, but I feel like people are giving him too much **** over fighting Ortiz. I understand where everyone is coming from when they say hes not fighting a "real" welterweight, because Ortiz has fought at JWW for pretty much his whole career. BUT, look at Ortiz's size compared to most JWW. He's a very big/muscular JWW (no ****) and doesn't really have too many fights at JWW left in him imo. Just going off tale of the tape alone, he re-hydrated from 140 to 155 vs Arnaoutis(sp?) from 142-155 vs Harris, and from 141 to 156 vs Peterson. Ortiz enters the ring at JMW on fight night lol.

The weak perish and the strong survive.

This is a do or die for both fighters. One fighter launches to super stardom. The other becomes an irrelevant "what if". Kinda like what Paul Williams is now.

Andre Berto already fought a journeyman in his last fight. Victor Ortiz is his second journeyman in a row. He needs to fight some more big name fighters.

This is a big step for Ortiz, would put him back into big spotlight again.

idk I kinda see this only being a big win for Ortiz if he does win. If Berto wins I feel like it wont really do all that much for him. If Berto loses however, well thats a different story
