Leonard vs Mayweather Sr (love this fight)

I know we've all seen this, but damn it's always good to bring it back up. Leonard was really a complete fighter... turned into a complete animal when he had to - 1 objective here... KILL! lol.

To anyone saying " This is what pac will do to floyd!" Umm.. no. THis was a different beast, stylistically. Leonard didn't do what a lot of fighters do today and that's pay too much respect for the roll. Pacman doesn't burry his head in anyones chest and sure as hell isn't as good an inside fighter as floyd. BUT..Fighters usually abandon their right hands against the roll today, afraid that they will be penalized for 1. Rabbit Punching or 2. Hitting their opponent on the back. Hence why a decent jab or lead hand from the conventional stance (or southpaw, lead power hand > lead left hand) is a big requirement in successfully getting around it.

Leonard ignored it though.. Hitting FLoyd in the back of the head, lower back and kidneys every chance.

It's very logical that all Mayweathers concentrate on their defense.

damn, Leonard sure was one amazing fighter. not only a really fast guy, but a very hard puncher and someone who had excellent skills to boot. Look at how he methodically varies his attack to get around Mayweather's defensive style.

I love how Leonard was able to attack and wait for Mayweather to try and counter, and then Leonard would take advantage and counter his counters. beautiful.

Leonard was a mean, vicious bastard when he wanted to be.He beat Mayweather Sr from pillar to post and seemed to relish doing so.He was in there with a good boxer that was obviously very capable defensively, and that had the skills, but Leonard had nothing but contempt for Mayweather's power(or lack of it).

Mayweather was a tough bastard for lasting as long as he did.

I always tell people that Leonard could possibly be the best fighter that ever lived. He was the total package of speed, power, and skill. He could fight coming forward as well as going backwards on his toes. I know most would disagree, but I think he beats Ray Robinson.( I think Hagler beats Robinson) I can't see anyone at welterweight in this day and time beating him either. The same way he beat Floyd Sr is the same way I see him beating Floyd Jr. Pacquiao would be too small for him. He would be too smart for Shane Mosley. Put a picture in the dictionary of a fighter and it would be Sugar Ray Leonard.

That wasnt a good fight. It was just a good showing for Leonard. Its like me saying I thought Mayweather/Gatti was a good fight. It just made me feel sad for Thunder.

Never woulda happened to Floyd Jr. He is way more active with the shoulder roll. He hits harder than Dad.

                Duran.

And Thomas Hearns if it had happened in an alternate universe where 12 rounds was the standard at the time.

You can't say that because SRL completely embarrassed Floyd Sr that he would beat Pacquiao. Floyd Sr is slow, has no power and has terrible offense and defense. He was literally a punching bag in that fight and SRL doesn't have extraordinary handspeed.

Pac vs SRL would be a great fight but Pac has alot of advantages like faster handspeed, more power and better head movement. Footwork is a push. If SRL tried to trade with Pacquiao like he did with Floyd Sr he would get KTFO.
