I don't care. He's 31 and lined up with another bum. If we are going to let Pirog off the hook because he doesn't have much pro experience that's fine but you can't expect to rate him highly for beating a prospect. He won't accomplish much if he is trying to wait till he get 30 fights under his belt till he fights a great opponent. He chose the amateur path and that's fine but now is the time, not the future. Look at Rigo, 6 fights and fought for a belt. Pirog needs to be fighting world champions now if he wants to be looked at as an elite fighter.
What do you people watch when you watch a boxing match? just the results? Felix Sturm is one of the most unremarkable fighters ive ever seen hold onto a world title...he doesn't do anything very well, he's pretty solid i guess? but against someone like pavlik he would get clowned on, wouldnt even be competitive. pavlik in 5

Why do you keep saying hes 31, I think hes 30 but regardless, he had less pro fights than Jacobs so he was a prospect too. He's fighting at MW, there arent that many big names out there apart from Martinez who Im sure he'd fight if offered.

jup Im a big fan but it would surprise me if he can take a punch and mixed with pressure it would be deadly for sturm.
BoxingScene.com was advised that WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm (35-2, 15KOs) tried to secure Kelly Pavlik (36-2, 32KOs) for a fight in Germany on June 25. Sturm was willing to make the fight at a catch-weight of 165-pounds. The fight won't happen, at least for the moment. Pavlik has been inactive since last April's decision loss to Sergio Martinez.
I thought Pavlik said he'd never fight at Middleweight again. Besides Sturm's decent jab there's nothing special about him. If Kelly can make 160 he'd have a much easier time with Sturm than Martinez.

I'd love to see this fight. I've been waiting for years for Pavlik to fight one of the top European mw-smw fighters. He's long overdue. There's plenty of $$$ to be made in Germany. Kelly can ensure a win by a KO so he should take the risk...
