See, here's a difference between between "Great White Hope" and simply a white dude who boxes. A "Great White Hope" fighter wins a title and never defends it against who could possibly be a threat. Pavlik lived up to the "Great White Hope" moniker and I was disappointed because I didn't think he would but he did. He did duck Paul Williams. Staph infection to get out of a match with Paul Williams? With doctors reports but a match on two weeks notice with a non-threat two weeks later? Lost all respect for Pavlik at that point. Hope Sturm kicks his ass..

He didn't slap the **** out of anybody. He fought like a complete coward against a blown up welterweight. That fight was there for the taking, if he only had some balls, but instead he fought very cautiously. That was a close fight which could have gone either way.

It is a flat out disgrace for a young middleweight "champion" to not stop a bloated, past his prime DLH. Ever think of it like that?

most here thought Jacobs was going to win easy against Pirog

He won't accomplish much if he is trying to wait till he get 30 fights under his belt till he fights a great opponent. He chose the amateur path and that's fine but now is the time, not the future. Look at Rigo, 6 fights and fought for a belt. Pirog needs to be fighting world champions now if he wants to be looked at as an elite fighter.

Actually Pirog tried to fight Sergio Martinez but Martinez turned him down. Pirog also couldn't get a quality opponent on HBO so he was forced to do a small local event in Russia. HBO is giving him a date after so expect to see him back on US TV

Pavlik has fought Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor twice, Sergio Martinez, and a prime Edison Miranda.

Felix Sturm has fought ... umm ... well he fought ... uhh ... oh yeah he fought DLH at MW. Tough tough fight. We all know the savage that DLH turned out to be at that weight.

I agree with some of this and it's mainly why I was ecstatic seeing Martinez whoop him, but Strum is the real bitch here, all he does is jab the shit out of weak opposition, atleast Pavlik stepped up to competition.

I mean if your Pavlik's team would you want him going into a Sturm fight with just one shake out fight in May?

if so then thank goodness you don't control a boxer's career

In Pavlik's only interview since he got out of rehab he mentioned that fighting Sturm at 166 in Germany is something he might do, but he mentioned Bryan Vera in the same breath. I think that says something about where Pav ranks Sturm.

It seems awfully convenient for Sturm to call KP out AFTER Kelly already signed to fight an undefeated light heavyweight. Pavlik/Sturm is irrelevant at this point. Pavlik is no longer a middleweight, and Sturm is not big enough to be effective above 160.

Undefeated Marcus "Too Much" Johnson will fight Dyah Davis on Shobox on April 8th. Pavlik will fight undefeated Alfonso Lopez on the Showtime PPV on May 7th. I think it is very likely that Pavlk's next fight after Lopez will be the Johnson/Davis winner.
