fighting defensively is actually much smarter in a street fight. getting punched without gloves ****s you up a lot worse than with big ol 8oz ones, especially when it comes to facial damage. plus you want to stay away from grappling. fighting defensively prevents against both...you definitely dont want to trade punches without any gloves.

what looks like a light punch from Floyd in a boxing match would be incredibly painful bareknuckle. likely KTFO if you arent ready for it.
