When it comes to the WBC...it comes down to the most POPULAR fighters that gets the rankings and gets the quick tittle shots. Is it the most prestige sanctioning body....of course it is. Is it the most fair....not by a long shot.

But it gets names ppl are familiar with up their. It favors Superstars and of course Mexican boxers. Just look down the list....you have Donaire, Hasegawa, soto, bradley, Berto, Alvarez, Froch, Pascal, and Klitschko as WBC champions. Past Champions include Floyd mayweather jr with a collection of them. Julio Cesar Chavez and Muhammad Ali as one of the most famous faces to hold that belt.

Heck they even stripped pound for pound king Sergio Martinez and told him he is now fighting for a DIAMOND BELT? and made a guy named??? ZBIK? and made him regular champion and lined up CHAVEZ jr for a tittle shot.

Remember the SILVER joke Belt? guess who won those belts by facing bums? Chavez jr, Saul Alvarez, and Erik morales I believe all in the same year. That belt was made up just to keep the huge fan following these fighters have happy. This just proves my point that the WBC is not the most fair sanctioning body. But it wants the SUPERSTARS with a big following to carry that green belt around their waist so everyone can see that pretty green belt as the legit championship belt of boxing and be the most RECOGNIZED of the 4 sanctioning bodies.

It's not Canelo's fault he's a huge attraction and has millions of fans. Suliman saw the opportunity to put the WBC belt around his waist and did just that. Now the real test will come to Saul Alvarez. I don't think he will be protected for long. He has what it takes to defend his tittle. And if he loses it...oh well he will get another shot at it. I believe he's a true champion and can handle himself in the ring and outside of it. His promoter believes in him, his team, his country, and a lot of boxing annalist out their.

He's the champ love it or hate it. Let's just wait and see.

ur arguments for jennings are equally valid for zbik and chavez jr, both are protected and both havent got anyone of note on their resume. cotto made an argument for his status by pursuing someone nobody wanted to fight in clottey. cotto was champion for a long time, both at 140 and 147. the accumulated succesful defenses he made before being defeated by margarito were argument enough for him to be fighting for another world title. margarito got a shot at cintron's ibf title after being defeated by williams, he beat golden johnson but that fight was horribly irrelevant

And I agree he should fight a top 10 guy! His last 3 fights have been against gatekeepers which is what every champion fighter goes thru on their way to a championship. My arguments I guess were meant for these *******s that insist that he has to fight the number one guiy tomorrow which is unreasonable in my eyes.

I disagree on the Cotto deal but lets just agree to disagree on that one.

The thing is eventually he's gonna have to fight top level opponents im just saying is why are you so obsessed with it being right now? Maybe because you wanna see the kid lose and you don't want to be proven wrong? maybe becasue if he has time he can fix the holes in his game and then you wont have anything to criticize him with?
I understand that you want to point to the fact that he is young. That's all fine and dandy. But there is only one problem with that..........He is the young WBC Champion at 154. If he was not ready for the responsibility then he should not have accepted the fight.

Every fighter dreams of being a Champion. And every fighter will say they are ready to be a champion, regardless weither or not they are really ready. But this is not the Am's(If he needed to cook in the Am's then thats were he should've been). This is the big leagues if you will/Pros. Once the commission signs off on you and confirms that you are a pro fighter, whatever holes you have in your game, can and WILL show up in your record. As a pro it is up to you and the camp that you pay YOUR money to, to fix those holes along the way. If that is too much for a young Champion to handle.............Then I would advise him to return his belt until he is ready to fight as a champion.

For the record. I dont want to see the kid lose, not at all. But you cant play Champion as far as I'm concerned.

LOL yeah because this happens all the time undeserving fighters who get title shot and mind you there have been tons and tons of them over the years all get the pass but Canelo should go ahead and turn down the title shot offer and be the first to say no thanks. Thats a bit hypocritical especially since you somehow think that Canelo has any choice in the matter to begin with. Again Golden boy is the matchmaker just like top Rank is the match maker for pac, cotto, and everyone else on their roster. Canelo doesn't get to pick and choose who he fights golden boy does!!!

The fact is championship or not Golden Boy is gonna move him up on their times table and you can scream and holler all you want about it but thats just how it is when a promoter has a very popular 20 year old fighter. deal with it and man up he will fight the big fights just not when you want him to. Golden boy made an investment and they arn't gonna risk anything until they know hes ready and frankly if I was the head of Golden boy i would be doing the same thing.

So next time you wannna say that he has responsability to do this and do that stop and think for a second. Who's really calling the shots with canelos career and I assure you it certainly isn't canelo.

Thanks...I just had to put it out their...I think Canelo is the future of boxing. Right now he is the most recognizable boxing name in Mexico surpassing marquez and chavez jr. To top things off he is now a big draw in mexico and the U.S. Props to GBP.

No one questioned his lack of defense prior to this fight. I admit that he needs to tighten up on his defense but no one was able to land like Martinez in his prior fights. One fight doesn't negate what he was able to do in all of his other fights.
