PWill wasn't being dominated by Martinez, he got caught by a punch he didn't see by someone who's not known for his punching power. That knockout won't affect him like it affected others. What makes you think that just because someone has power they will beat him? A minor glitch from a wild, unexpected punch. Angulo has to be able to get in range to land and his boxing skills are lacking.

You know what I think? I think that people who hate on Canelo don't want him to have a chance to get better because if he can improve his defense and overall boxing skills what are people gonna have to call him a fake or a hype job when it becomes obvious that he isn't?

Once you are a title holder, then YOU SHOULD be fighting World Class opponents. You're a World Class Belt holder, you should be fighting World Class Contenders.

Last time I checked, this is exactly what Floyd Mayweather was criticized for. Sitting back, letting everybody fight each other, and then fighting the guy that came out on top of the scrap heap and calling himself the best for doing that.

Amazing what happens when it's a countryman of yours that does it and not some black American.

And so what if it doesn't happen for a year? You do realize that holding Canelo to the same expectations as mayweather jr is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of in my life. dont make this a race thing thats just dumb! One is a 34 year old PFP champion that had an extensive amature background and has won titles in 6 weight class. The other is a 20 year old kid with zero amature back ground has 35 fights most of which took place against lesser compatition just like everyother 20 year old contender. Why does it have to happen now? What are you afraid that he will improve and then you wont have nothing to criticize him on?

I will tell you one thing when you compare him to other young contenders like Mike Jones and Fernando Guerrero he has already had much more advanced compatition than them. I think he is being moved exactly how he is supposed to you just want him to fight top level compatition now because you wanna see him lose and you don't wanna even give him a chance to prove you wrong. Thats all this boils down to!

It remains to be seen how that punch will affect him in the future. As far as Angulo landing on Williams with Pauls lack of defense and style of fighting thats not even a question.

Thats nice and all but the belt still doesn't change the fact that he is still a 20 year old fighter. And lets be realistic he didn't ask for the fight to be for a title Golden Boy is the one who lobbied for that. Why? More money obviously! It makes him more marketable. The thing is eventually he's gonna have to fight top level opponents im just saying is why are you so obsessed with it being right now? Maybe because you wanna see the kid lose and you don't want to be proven wrong? maybe becasue if he has time he can fix the holes in his game and then you wont have anything to criticize him with?

I see what people are aying but coming out of it he will still have to face a the best of allothem and considerably tougher challenge, and thats what people are screaming. I see people on here saying **** Canelo, but he's not the one that is making this decision. It's the WBC. Regardless of what people say it's not his fault.

All this is saying is that this will be his first mandatory contender, nobody is saying he still can't fight these other opponents. He can't fight them all at once, and no matter who he fights people are still gonna b*tch!!!!!!

There was nothing wild and unexpected about the left martinez landed on williams. He landed it several times before in the fight and it was obvious that it was cold and calculated.


Oh and the reason we think paul will lose to someone with power is because when has paul ever fought a real murderous puncher? He got knocked cold by a fighter who is not know for punching who set up that left perfectly. Imaging what some who actually has power will do to paul once they put their game plan together.

If a champion needs time to "improve", get more experience or mature... And is not willing into fight other because of these facts..... Then you don't deserve the title!

This tournament is a slap in the face of all fans. Get 4 fighters - which are favor to beat the champion - to fight each other, for the honor to fight a less experience and less deserving opponent........ This sport can't stop to ****zing all over itself!

I agree yes he should step up his compatition not arguing that but if he isn't fighting the Number 1 guy in the division 2 months from now that fine to. he's stuill learning and he will get there eventually but it seems that people are criticizing him becasue he isn't doing it now now now. Sorry but the belt doesn't change the fact that he is still being worked up to a major fight just like anypther 20 year old.


But as far as jennings being number 1 come on. We all knew he was a protected european fighter that had nothing of note on his resume and hasn't done anything since. Thats great what cotto did after but what did Cotto do to get that title shot other than getting knocked out in his previous fight. The title was handed to him hell HBO rejected the ***ing fight for a reason.

panda never argued canelo has to fight the number 1 guy in 2 months...but a top 10 guy isnt too much to ask either

ur arguments for jennings are equally valid for zbik and chavez jr, both are protected and both havent got anyone of note on their resume. cotto made an argument for his status by pursuing someone nobody wanted to fight in clottey. cotto was champion for a long time, both at 140 and 147. the accumulated succesful defenses he made before being defeated by margarito were argument enough for him to be fighting for another world title. margarito got a shot at cintron's ibf title after being defeated by williams, he beat golden johnson but that fight was horribly irrelevant
