I'm not here to talk about that though. The thing is that if/when Ricky wins this one people will talk about him having 2 belts as if that means something. Sure, the one was earned legitimately, but this one is a gimmee. But I have a bad feeling that that aspect will get lost in the shuffle when the debates start up.

I swear to god I will shoot whoever says anything positive about Hatton fighting Maussa and if people nuthug him for beating Maussa, I will personally go to their house and put a bullet in their head. Certainly the biggest nut lickers Hatton has cant certainly agree with the Maussa fight.

haha, I can't see anyone right now saying that this is a good thing, but then again I never would have thought that anyone would consider the fact that a fighter owned a WBO belt to be a legitimate argument either.

        Brewster
        Calzaghe
        Taylor
        Santos
        Margarito
        Cotto
        Corrales
        Montiel
        Calderon

All credible WBO Champions....But Maussa holds WBA, so maybe you confused .....

Hatton says all he wants to do is unify the 140 pound division...So if that is the case he take Maussa now he better take Cotto or Mayweather next....You cant make a statement like that and that back out, especially being the king in the division....Wouldnt it be something if Maussa roughed up Hatton and stole his crown hahahaha, I hope to god their isnt a rematch clause.

I'm loving the way this Hatton vs Mayweather hype is starting to cook... It's great!... It's making the fight a good possibility.

I understand why Ricky Hatton is fighting Maussa, he's having a rest and picking up the WBA belt in the process... The Kostya Tszyu fight was a VERY HARD fight for Hatton, you only have to look at the pictures of him after to see how beaten up he was!

I just think that it's a little difficult for Mayweather fans to jump on the band wagon and criticize Hatton taking a little breather when Mayweather has just taken a 3yr breather!

Oh yeah, the WBO champs are mostly decent, but guys try to make it sound like the fact that someone owns one of their belts makes them the champ of the division. With Margarito, some of this fans are trying to crown him king already without first beating Judah. Hell, the ESPN guys were even trying to pull the same stunt after their PPV (I don't mean to knock Margarito, I actually like him as a fighter but he was the first example that came to mind).

I try to give Hatton the benefit of the doubt but I look at his career and I see one solid opponent. Everyone else is just also-rans. It's pretty bad when Joe Hutchison jumps out from the list as someone with name recognition.

A possibility? That fight should be a done deal or be in negotiations and be passed a "done deal"

What the hell are you talking about a 3 year breather? If that is the case Hatton didnt even started his career until June 4th 2005....You people crack me up.

Mayweather was on top of the World when he beat Castillo in their 2nd fight... But that was back in 2002', and since then he's fought Sosa, N'dou, Corley, Bruselles, and Gatti. To me... Recent opposition has knocked him down a peg or two.

If Mayweather can get away with fighting Bruselles... Then surely Hatton can get away with fighting Maussa, (remembering who Hatton's just had to fight).

By the way... Hatton hasn't, "only ever fought bums untill he beat Tszyu". He worked himself into the mandatory position for the WBO, IBF, and WBA belts, (+ ranked 2 by the WBC)... These rankings were based on whom the governing bodies told him to fight.

Sosa and Corley were credible fighters. Sosa was an up and coming contender who was easily in everyones top 10 in the lightweight division. Just because he hasnt bounced back now doesnt mean he wasnt a top guy back then. Corley is more credible than any other fighter on Hattons resume other than Tszyu. Why you so hard on Corley? He is a top guy?

Also everybody knows politics is influenced with those rankings, everybody knows who the best is...Fighting mandatories are not fighting great fighters...Otherwise Zab would be getting praised for his fights against Rivera and his upcoming bout against Baldomir....It doesnt work for one and then not the other...The people know who the best are and dont need no crooked organization telling them who....Hatton vs Mayweather is the only fight that should happen at 140...You notice Mayweather doesnt want to hang around at 140 because he cant get the Hatton fight dont you?
