Old habits are hard to break. I never saw Zab look this good defensively. I thought his jab was ok could've been better and he could've countered much more like Floyd once his oponent is off balance and has committed himself. He never looked tired to me but if hes going to play the thinking mans game, he has to be more active offensively. He gave too many rounds away and if he had just been poping that jab and keeping distance with those fast hands he has, should've been an easy night. If he really commits to that jab and makes it a thudding jab, that swells you up and cuts your face up. He could come back and become something really special.

Im excited about Zab being back and I think if he fine tunes his offense. He could be the best 140 if matched correctly. I would'nt go directly to maidina but if the money is right. Zab has to fight. When he had his man hurt he should've went to the body to bring those hands down and he would've got a KO instead of a TKO. Patience and professionalism difference between him and Floyd.

But he was losing badly. The commentators had Judah's **** so deep in there mouths it was ridiculous. Any of the top JWW's would beat Judah IMO.
Actually there is such a thing as a 9-9 round, not under the circumstances that guy was talking about but if a fighter gets deducted a point but wins the round it would be 9-9.

I'd discuss my opinions on Judah's win but you come across as a bias hater and I'm not into the time wasting business.

Yeah he wasn't impressive at all. He just used his jab well, which he's been doing recently anyway. He moves more like Whitaker which is a bad thing because he still doesn't punch enough inbetween all that movement. I wouldn't say he was losing before the punch. It was probably close to even unless you scored the round he got wobbled in 10-8...

The guy is just still explosive so he's dangerous...at times.

i've seen plenty of nine- nine rounds

          they involve fowels.

a ten point must system means that the winner of the round must be given ten points

but a point can be deducted by a referee for a fowel

a guy wins a round ten - nine
          but he's deducted a point
and the round is nine - nine

dont be so quick to "LOL" at people if you don't know what you are talking about.

          ....

making a guy miss is perhaps the most valuable ability of a boxer

zab looked pretty good to me. he's never been that hard to hit based on his defensive skills, he usually relies on his footspeed and his reflexes.
          mabuza is a hitter
and zab is usually a frontrunner
          zab tired his man out
          boxed well
and had plenty left when it came time to turn it on.

          zab kept his cool
didnt blow up when he was given a KD (in the past he would have lost his mind.)
and he knocked a guy out with one punch essentially with his back to the ropes
most refs would call that fight in the corner when they got a good look at mabuza (who was dead to rights)

i'd place him in the top ten at 140
and say he's got a good chance against devon alexander or below

But since your not a fan and hate on Judah your gonna find something negative about his win and performance. all that matters is he said he was gonna get a major title again and he did
I think that considering his age and being under Pernell....it is logical. He is pacing himself now and longevity is the order of the day.

He looks faster and slicker. Made Mabusa look like the mummy chasing him around the ring.

I was VERY impressed by his speed and his shots connecting I would give him 70% on that.

If the fight went the distance though I don't think he would have lasted at that speed against a faster opponent like Maidana.

I don't think Zab looked bad what you are seeing is the gradual evolution of a fighter. He's getting a little up there in age and he realizes that he has to change his style if he wants to reach the peak again. Like another poster said earlier he just has to fine tune things so he doesn't give away as many rounds. But I never felt like Mabuza was winning the fight even though he was coming forward. That KO even looked like Zab used Floyd's shoulder roll to land it too. I hope Zab continues to keep improving and returns to contend for the untisputed JWW crown.

He also got KD'ed( flash KD) and almost had a Tszyu like meltdown.
Terrible? He used his jab and boxed around him. As much as I don't like Judah he showed improvement and was setting that counter two rounds before. Look at it again and check when he started to counter.

I agree TS, he was clearly losing until that 7th round and doing too much running.
