Apparently you're not understanding the Knee-Jerk reactionary, retaliation comments in this thread.
TS said that Canelo would destroy Cotto, jumping the gun.
And fans are saying the opposite. That's all.
Had this thread never been made, Canelo wouldn't be catching any flack. As it stands, Cotto is the better fighter. He came through the Amateur system and was polished from the get-go, and Canelo is coming up through the Mexican System - which is start fighting Professionally at age 16 and get to 40 fights by the time you're a young Adult.
Cotto has his flaws but is a proven fighter against slick styles (Quintana, Malignaggie, Judah, Foreman), Strong fighters with speed (Mosley), Pressure fighters (Torres), and even Margarito to some extent- minus the TKO loss.
Canelo so far has proven that he can beat brothers of famous fighters, so lets not jump the gun.
Cotto is proven, yet just as, if not more vulnerable than Canelo. Canelo can box, use his feet, throw combinations and land crisp body punches. He's green but he has a lot to learn. His head movement can be better, but that didn't seem to be an issue with Matthew Hatton tonight. As far as the thread goes, I was just retaliating to the video of the "other" Cotto because it's been used in other threads outside of this one. There isn't a fighter in the world that hasn't looked vulnerable, been caught or had an off night. If people are complaining cause Canelo's not KO'ing the brothers or cousins of big name fighters then so be it.
He's 20 years old. Who exactly would you be fighting if you were in his shoes? Would you step up and test your skills against someone like Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito or even Angulo? The kid even said he wants 2 more fights before he steps it up a notch.Comment

If Cotto is proven, then that means that he is NOT as vulnerable as Canelo. Getting caught in a early fight is one thing, but Cotto did his thing against top oppositon.

However, this is one of the worst Set-up fights to win your first Title Belt in a long time. Andre Berto's win of the Vacant WBC belt being a close second.
Not only did they not fight a top contender for the WBC Belt, but they fished out a guy from a weight-class below to do it. What are we even debating here now? I don't know. I personally don't wanna hear about these guys being compared to the likes of Cotto, until they actually start competing on their level.
I'm not buying the hype, until I see him in with something resembling of a World Class fighter at his prime. So far on paper, Baldomir is his best win.
HBO is wasting money that they could be using on better fights to showcase him because he can sell tickets (as if that matters to a American HBO Subscriber who doesn't live in Mexico)Last edited by cupocity303; 03-06-2011, 01:54 AM.Comment

Well it happens to hotshot prospects. There is a video out there of Cotto doing a funny dance after getting wobbled by Chop Chop Corley.
I don't blame the kid, he is taking the path his Management is setting for him.

So that's my final post regarding this. Props though. I'll send you some green K for being a knowledgeable poster.Comment
