i think it is his business..he's a fellow fighter and when something is wrong i think people like him and others should step up and say something, atleast try and make a point and make the people who allow this know not everybody is happy with what goes on....it's like when people protest something they don't agree with at work...i only wish more fighters would have said something to sulaiman...example rhodes should speak up more, cintron too..angulo,not just once but often and maybe just maybe changes will start to take place,,,,one thing for sure,i think maquez just made the wbc angry, lol,he better hope he gets treated fairly if he ever fights for that belt (by the judges)

Juan Manuel Marquez works as a commentator for ESPN's Boxing show "Golpe a Golpe" where he was asked by his co-animator what he thought about the weight issue. Whoever wrote this article was irresponsible by not specifying that and simply writing what he commented. JMM is right, boxers have two jobs: train to make weight and fight and when a fighter who's getting paid to fight at a certain weight misses the weight it jeopardizes the investment. Joan Guzman was let go for not making weight and then testing positive for a ban substance and as talented as he is his career as a top fighter is over. Canelo is wrong, this is not only a catchweight fight which he agreed on, but then he doesn't make the contract weight and says is no big deal. I guess because he's 20 and inmature he said stuff like that but JMM is right and has the right to comment since he was the victim of a fighter not making weight and GBP not taking his side and end up getting embarrased in the ring. I'm sick and tired of catchweight fights and sick of the WBC manufacturing champions. Boxing is a corrupt sport, but now is more corrupt than ever...

you're a ****in idiot... take your head out of your azz for once in your life.

catchweights are a part of boxing. only a dumb ass like you would complain about catchweights. I don't care about the catchweight.

the travesty of the ginger kid vs. hatton fight is that hatton is not ranked at jr MW while there are plenty of WBC ranked jr MWs out there more deserving than hatton. the WBC is letting them fight for the belt cause they want the ginger kid to hold the belt. that's the ****in travesty here, not the catchweight.

Pac still fought Margarito for the wbc 154 lb title at a catchweight when they weren't even ranked in the division.........

man shut your fucken pacquaio ****riding ass up!

Marquez is a boxing analyst on ESPN's Golpe a Golpe, he was asked about the weight issue and canelo's opponent on the past few episodes. Hes speaking as a fighter and as an analyst.

the writer of this article failed to point out that these quotes were taken from the show.
