But at least Juanma showed true professionalism by showing up at the contracted weight for every one of his fights. I agree that this guy gets his first legitimate (if you can really call the WBC legitimate anymore) title shot and he show up overweight? Here should be the deal, if you show up overweight, you lose 50% of your purse, period! If he would have lost 50%, would he have still been overweight. No, he either wouldn't have signed to a fight weight he knew he couldn't make or made weight. This string of fighters coming in overweight constantly is killing the sport more than catchweights. If both fighters agree to a weight, they should abide by it, however, for title belts, it should be the weight limit or no belt. Even if/when Canelo wins, he will still be a paper champion anyway...Comment

no argument here with those points...the failure to make a weight that YOU requested is downright unprofessional and he should be chastised for his lack of discipline...i would agree with you and JMM in that regard
but my point was directed at JMM's rant about other fighters that are ranked in a division getting bypassed when he himself benefited from the same kind of actionComment

not really because he was a champion in a lower class!!! People, I'm boricua and I give JMM his props..and in this subject he's right!!! Marquez has earned his stripes the hard way, opposite of Canelo, which is a great talent but shouldn't be fighting for a title in a weight class that him nor his opponents are even rank!!! JMM is a great champion, great guy, had a chance to meet him in Tucson, AZ...joked a little about the rivalry between PR and Mexico, really nice guy!!!Comment

One of the true superstars of boxing, three time world champion Juan Manuel Marquez has had a personal beef with young Mexican prospect Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, specially after Canelo challenged Marquez to a fight during a televised program in México. Now during another televised program, Marquez jabbed at Alvarez for failing to make the contracted weight of 150-pounds for tonight's fight with Matthew Hatton.
[Click Here To Read More]....Canelo is gonna beat Matt Hatton BUT I don't see him being this big star that everybody is saying he'll be
